Xiaomi Prepares the Fastest Wireless Charging of 80W

As long as technology does not allow us to create batteries with greater capacity and that take up less space, for now the only solution is to find extremely fast charging systems that take care of filling the cells as soon as possible. Thus, although we have to continue depending on a plug, we will not have to remain tied to it for so long.

And now without wires

Fast charging has become one of the attractions of many phones, so manufacturers are working hard to find technologies that allow it to do so as soon as possible. Anyway, the solutions always go through the wired mode, however, Xiaomi seems to have hit the mark when it comes to creating a fairly powerful wireless charging system .

To be exact, the new technology would allow charging a phone with a power of 80W , allowing to reach 50% of a 4,000 mAh battery in just 8 minutes of charging. But it is that, as if that were not enough, this charge would be able to complete 100% of the battery in just 19 minutes, a really spectacular figure, since it would almost maintain the charge rate per minute from 0%.

To prove it, Xiaomi has presented a video in which it shows a modified Mi 10 Pro, where it can be seen that with only the first minute of charging the device is capable of going from 0% to 10% , and after another seven minutes. , the phone already had 50% full charge. That is, half a charge in 8 minutes .

As you can see, the system is incredibly fast, and would largely solve the bondage of relying on a plug for long periods of time due to slow charges from some charging systems. Combined with an external battery with wireless charging , it would be a perfect solution for those addicted to mobile.

And how about efficiency?

Another issue will be the energy efficiency of this load. Wireless charging systems are notorious for not being overly efficient, as charging coils often waste energy for physical reasons. Taking into account the 80W power available in the system, this energy loss could be higher than that of other lower load systems, so this would be another important point to improve in future developments.

When will it be available?

For now, what Xiaomi has presented is an experimental prototype that could be far from commercialization, and if we take into account previous presentations, we are still waiting to see the 40W and 50W wireless charging systems in stores, which have already been presented with similar demos and have not yet been implemented in any device (for now the maximum wireless load offered works at 30W).

So for now we just have to keep waiting. Charge a phone with 4,000 mAh battery in just 19 minutes? Where to sign?
