Mid-range mobiles offer us many options without spending too much, which means that we have to focus on what we are going to buy. Making the best choice is not easy and especially taking into account Xiaomi’s wide catalog with its different sub brands, such as the Poco X3 NFC and the Redmi Note 9 Pro .
To get rid of doubts about which one you have to buy, we are going to review section by section about what they can offer us. Although they coincide in the software, the hardware part will be different and that when it comes to knowing their prices will make us have to make a decision before which nobody wants to be wrong.
Design that changes with the same screens
Looking at both devices we realize that they opt for different camera modules than the usual ones, with a pentagon-shaped sensor for Xiaomi’s Poco X3 NFC and with a square model on the Redmi. However, from the front the hole for the front camera is identical . The weight of both terminals and the dimensions leave the Poco X3 in a worse position, which weighs slightly more and has higher measurements.
Moving on to talk about the screen, we find a 6.67-inch panel in Full HD + resolution for both . The pixel density is also the same and the useful surface traced. However, something changes inside, since the Poco X3 adds a refresh rate of 120 Hz with a touch sampling of 240 Hz.
Improved processor for the Poco
In both cases, the two opt for a Qualcomm Snapdragon but in 732G version for Poco and Snapdragon 720G in Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 9 Pro. The performance will be very similar in both since they are both octa-core with the Adreno 618 GPU, LPDDR 4X type RAM and UFS 2.1 memory.
The options of these models also coincide, with 6 GB of RAM in both cases along with 64 or 128 GB of internal memory. Adding of course a slot for MicroSD cards in case we need more extra memory. An important point is that the Poco X3 adds liquid cooling and if we want it to play we will notice less temperature increases and therefore better performance.
Four cameras on both sides
Both the Poco and the Redmi use four cameras on the back and match again with 64 Mpx on the main sensor. The second lens is the wide angle and here the Poco with 13 Mpx improves on Redmi with 8 Mpx, the next lens is the depth lord for portrait mode, where 2 Mpx are in both. To finish the macro sensor that with 2 Mpx in the Poco and 5 Mpx in the Redmi we will obtain similar results.
In front, the 20 Mpx selfie camera is better on the Poco, but slightly because with 16 Mpx the Redmi Note 9 Pro can achieve very good results. In video recording, there is no lack of digital image stabilization, autofocus and 4K resolution in both cases.
Some batteries that you do not want others
Something we cannot complain about is the batteries, where we find 5160 mAh in the Poco X3 compared to 5020 mAh in the Redmi Note 9 Pro , we are never going to stay halfway. This is not everything because its fast charging also has a lot to talk about, 33W on the Poco and slightly lower with 30W on the Redmi.
Connectivity is a section that is completed with NFC and audio jack on both mobiles. Connectivity is based on 4G with Dual SIM option and Bluetooth 5.0, as well as a fingerprint sensor on the side of the two phones.
MIUI 12 for both
Inside, the software is led by Android 10 and MIUI, where the Poco X3 will receive MIUI 12 first and the Redmi Note 9 Pro will have to wait a few more weeks. However the two will be very on par in performances and their scalded system, except that Poco adds a launcher that if we want we can download from the Play Store.
Prices and conclusions
As for the prices of both devices there are many similarities, because in the version of 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB, the most recommended in both cases, the price is 269 euros and 259 euros respectively. A minimum difference of 10 euros that does not leave us in doubt about buying one or the other.
From our opinion and as a sincere recommendation, we have to invite you to opt for the Poco X3 NFC , since its screen has a higher refresh rate, integrates liquid cooling, a slightly better processor and a slightly higher battery. In the rest of the points they are the same, but these small devices can make a difference.
