Many of you have seen first-hand over the last few years the enormous functionality of Microsoft‘s Excel program. We are talking about a powerful software focused on the use of numerical data that solves our office automation needs on the PC both at home and professional level.
With this we want to tell you that we are dealing with an application that is part of the Office suite that helps us to make simple accounts, or keep the accounts of a company. As you can imagine, the modes of use that we can benefit from here are innumerable. With everything and with it in these same lines we want to focus on a very useful functionality and that more and more people use. And it is that a growing number of users are increasingly choosing to invest in the stock market.

That is not to mention the companies that are professionally dedicated to all of this. It goes without saying that here basically large amounts of numerical data are handled, so this program from Microsoft can help us. We are not going to list the uses that we can make of this application related to the control and management of stock values. What we are going to show you is how to add the values of some of the large companies to our own Excel spreadsheet.
Perhaps the most conventional method, but one that can be a significant waste of time, is to add the companies and their corresponding values manually . However, the developers of this program are fully aware that this numerical data has to be constantly updated, and that typing it in by hand is a somewhat tedious task. Therefore, they offer a particularly suitable function to automate this type of work related to the stock market .
Add stock values in Excel automatically
That is precisely what we want to talk about in these same lines, all through a function of the program that can be very useful to us. In order to benefit from what we are telling you about and save a good amount of time, the first thing we do is type the name of the companies as such. We must be careful not to make mistakes so that the program can detect them correctly.
Once we have entered the names of the companies from which we wish to obtain the corresponding stock values in their boxes, we select the complete list and go to the Data menu option. Here we will see a button precisely called Quotes, on which we click.

At that moment, the names of the companies added by us will be replaced on the screen by their official names on the stock market. Therefore, to extract your price at that precise moment and add it to the spreadsheet, click on the house-shaped icon located to the left of each nomenclature.
Then a small window will open corresponding to Microsoft’s Bing search engine with the market value of that specific company. To add the corresponding value to our Excel spreadsheet, all we have to do is click on the price field of that value window.

This is something that we can do with each of the companies. Although to save time, simply drag the mouse from the lower right corner of the first cell, which already has the value included, to the end.
