From 1G to 6G, the world of mobile telephony is one of the ones that has undergone the most changes in recent years in the technological spectrum that surrounds us. Changes that have made immediacy the most important thing today.
The pursuit of communications with higher network speeds is an area of research that continues to expand and, although the deployment of commercial 5G networks globally is developing rapidly, researchers are already theorizing around the next generation of networks that will be the 6G.

Characteristics of the 6G according to scientists
An international team of researchers and scientists from the following universities: School of Computer Science and Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China; the School of Data Science of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, China; the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society of Shenzhen, China, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), of the United States; Shenzhen University College of Computer Science and Software Engineering, China; and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia, Canada promise a cognitive 6G network in the article “6G Cognitive Information Theory: A Mailbox Perspective” which has been published in Big Data and Cognitive Computing .
Everything indicates that the key technologies for 6G mobile communication networks to be available will be in 2023, with emerging 6G networks in 2030 , according to scientists. Compared to 5G, 6G will be able to increase the data rate up to 100 times , which is one Terabyte per second or more, making it possible to join next-generation smart devices such as high-performance computers.
To be able to move large amounts of data, 6G networks will have to tailor the future of the services they provide to successfully meet user demands for data transmission.

This is how the sixth generation network is characterized
Among the characteristics that scientists have studied about sixth-generation networks, these are the most relevant:
- Proactive interactive network: A personalized and centralized network on demand . Users will be the ones who define the network functions for on-demand resource scheduling. The 6G network would be able to adjust in real time according to the changes and needs of users. This design is not understood without artificial intelligence, as well as the protection of personal data.
- Distributed smart network: An intelligent, managed and controlled network capable of analyzing, transmitting and storing data on a large scale and providing personalized access anytime, anywhere .
- Cognitive information transmission: Compared to previous generations, 6G will significantly reduce redundant retransmissions by ensuring that semantic meanings are extracted and sent.
- Lower latency.
- Lower consumption compared to 5G.
- Speeds to be measured in Terabytes.
- It could be one of the first wireless connection systems present in all parts of the world.
As you can see, technology is advancing by leaps and bounds and a real 6G demonstration has already been carried out in which 1 Tbps of speed was reached last week.
