A new survey carried out among Android users reveals what is most envied by all those with a mobile with Google’s operating system from the competition, Apple. Beyond Identity surveyed 1,003 Americans, from a security standpoint, and the results are surprising.
Of the 1,003 Americans surveyed, 498 used Apple phones, while 505 used Android devices, and as part of this research, the company found that around 25% of Android users would consider upgrading their phone to an iPhone. On the other hand, about 36% of iOS users would consider buying an Android.
Why change?
What leads users of one platform or another to switch to the competition? Well, according to the study, Android users are tired of the security problems of their computers. In fact, they consider that, in this sense, iPhones are safer. The source also points out that iOS 16 is attracting Android users as it includes many security features, even though it is not yet available in a stable way.
According to the users of each smartphone, the iPhone 13 Pro Max felt noticeably more secure than any of the Android flagships. In fact, iPhone 13 users were more than twice as likely to say theirs was the most secure smartphone they’d ever used.
The study also finds that the users who suffer the least security intrusions are those who trust Apple, although the difference is not very high. Specifically, 20% of Android users state that they have never encountered a security breach on their devices, a percentage that grows to 30% in the case of iPhone owners.
The reality is that, today, no device is 100% secure (just remember the famous Celebgate that compromised the private photos of hundreds of celebrities using iPhone). What is certain is that it seems that cybercriminals sneak into Google Play more frequently with malicious applications, just look at the news in recent months about malware that is discovered in the Android store. This does not mean that the App Store is free of danger, but it does give the feeling that these attacks are much smaller in the Cupertino store.
A poll… biased
Surely, by now, you’re wondering… okay, why do users switch from iPhone to Android? Well, you’re going to be left wanting to know because, interestingly, the survey doesn’t give us much information on why iPhone users would switch to Android, despite the fact that a fairly high percentage of them would consider doing so.
If we take into account that the study has been carried out based on security , it is probably for reasons that have nothing to do with this, such as price, the possibility of personalizing the smartphone or a greater possibility of choosing between different models.
