The Callisto Protocol fixes its problems on PC, although not all

The Callisto Protocol arrived in stores last Friday, December 2, and after many months of anxious waiting, PC users were faced with a harsh reality : the game has so many graphics and performance errors that even with a hardware configuration first level it is possible to move it correctly. Can you imagine having spent hundreds of euros on a state-of-the-art processor and a good graphics card so that it stumbles?

The crude reality

As we tell you, the most bloody thing of all is not that the game has reached stores with widespread problems in all its formats and platforms as a result of poor development, but that there have been classes and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X The Callisto Protocol it performs as it should with a quality that is precisely what all those who have been waiting for it over the last year expected .

And if you don’t believe us, to show a button: here below you can see how the game performs for a user in some of its phases on a PC that we cannot say is lame in power. The Callisto Protocol rocks with an Intel i9-12900 processor , 64GB of RAM and an Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics card.

But surely the worst comes now. Striking Distance Studios, the person responsible for the game coming out like this, announced after a few hours that it was going to correct all these problems , so, with better or worse face, users understood that they had to wait a few days before receiving a solution. But no, things have gone much faster, so much so that a patch is now available since it makes it clear that they knew in advance the state in which their computer title was being put up for sale.

A band-aid instead of a patch

The result of this reaction from the study has been the publication a few hours ago of a patch that comes to correct that annoying stuttering that you can see in the video above and that is really a nuisance. In their official message, they advise that “Thank you for your patience. A patch for PC is now available that improves the game’s stuttering issues due to shader compilation. After the update, you may see stuttering in the game menu.” game the first time you start it. We are working on more optimizations in the coming days.”

Thanks for your patience. A PC patch is now available to improve gameplay stuttering issues due to shader compilation. After updating, you may see temporary stuttering in the game menu the first time you launch the app. We are working on further optimizations in the days ahead.

Obviously removing that stuttering is great, but watching an ultra-powerful PC see frames plummet for no compelling reason is even more frustrating. So it’s that whole part of performance that’s going to need the most pick and shovel over the next few days before we really have any remedy for a fact that is completely unacceptable.

We already know that the set launch dates are sacred and that PlayStation (or Microsoft when it comes down to it) command a lot and it is always good to respect the established deadlines, but the same thing a good delay of a couple more weeks on the PC launch day would have served to correct everything in a more elegant way. Which obviously hasn’t happened with The Callisto Protocol .
