PlayStation 5 Remote Play: How it Works from PS4

PlayStation 5 Remote Play

Sony has just updated the main menu of PS4 to include a new icon that will allow to launch an application that could be very interesting for some. This is PS5 Remote Play , the remote access application to control a PS5 from a distance. Yes, as you are reading.

As you can imagine, the application requires that a PS5 be turned on with your profile so that it can send the signal from the console to the device through the network and we can control the game or application that is running at that moment. It is still quite a contradictory utility, since the new Dual Sense controller is not compatible with PS4, nor will certain games allow you to use a DualShock 4 on a PS5, but it seems that with the magic of remote transmission all problems disappear.

To get the new application you do not have to do practically anything, since, having the console updated to the latest version, the system menu should show the new application.

What use is it?

Basically this application will allow us to give a second utility to the old PS4 when we have the brand new PS5, since this way we can play remotely from another room in the house as a streaming device. If the only 4K TV in the house is busy (and that’s where you enjoy PS5 the most), you can always connect your PS4 to another old TV and play remotely with your PS5 without disturbing anyone.

Can I play away from home?

As long as you manage to have a stable connection with at least 5 Mpbs, it shouldn’t matter where you are, so you can play remotely with your console from anywhere in the world. Of course, try to have both consoles paired in advance, or else you will not be able to establish the connection or wake it up from sleep mode.

Can I play from other devices?

If you prefer something more portable than having to take your PS4 wherever you go, you can always install the versions of Remote Play for Windows or Mac, or the corresponding versions for mobile and tablet, present on both iOS and Android. Thus, you can control your console remotely from your phone or tablet and be able to continue with the game miles away from home.
