Who has not happened to try to configure a mobile with the desired size, we have found that for one reason or another we are not able to change the size of the icons on Android . Especially when trying to configure a mobile for the elderly and make them more accessible, we run into this problem, which with the new versions of Android has been solved.
Previously and without going any further in Android 10, we were not able to modify the size of the icons and we had to opt for other alternatives based on applications. Now we have at our disposal the necessary options and as you will see some layers of customization also allow us to modify it to our liking. On Huawei or Samsung mobiles, this option is not possible and we will have to settle for changing the grid.
Steps to resize icons on Android
In case we have a mobile with Android Stock and the latest Android 11 version, we have very easy options to modify the size of the icons . Google has wanted to facilitate the process so that we only have to access the settings and adapt it as we need it. What we must do is the following:
- We enter Settings.
- We go to the Screen section.
- We select Styles and wallpapers.
Here we will come across several customization options, but what we want to change is at the bottom on the “Grid” menu. At this point we can choose whether we want to divide the icons on the screen into 5 × 5, 4 × 4, 3 × 3 or 2 × 2 icons. All of them will apply the change and the size of the apps will be proportionally changed.
Change the size of the icons in MIUI
In the event that our mobile is Xiaomi, we also have within our reach the possibility of changing the size of the icons. We will only have to follow these steps in MIUI 12:
- We access the mobile Settings.
- We enter the Home screen.
- Now we choose Icon size.
- Finally we will choose the desired size, being able to see a preview.
Modify the grid on Android
In the rest of Android phones where we cannot choose the size of the icons we want, a very useful option is to adapt the grid so that the icons are not too close together . Basically it is not like modifying the icons, but in practice it has a similar result. As we have said before, this can be used on Huawei, Samsung, OPPO, and other models.
- To start we just have to pinch the home screen.
- Then we will touch on Settings.
- And in the Design or Grid section, choosing the one that allows the least number of icons.
