Several months have passed since the launch of iOS 14, iPadOS 14, macOS Big Sur, watchOS 7 and tvOS 14. Even later versions with more news have been released. This makes it an ideal moment to recapitulate what, in our opinion, are the 5 most interesting novelties of each of them.
Long live iOS 14 security and widgets
- Obviously, the redesigned widgets available anywhere on the iPhone screen are one of the great innovations that, in addition, had been demanding for years. More and more developers are creating their own adapted to this operating system.
- The arrival of the Application Library is another of the great novelties for iPhones, allowing us to have a much more refined view of apps without having to create folders or have icons of apps that we do not use frequently.

- The privacy of the apps is now much more transparent, being able to have from the moment before downloading a view of all the permissions that will be requested. Also the crawling of web pages and these apps has improved in these versions of iOS.
- Don’t bother me with calls and don’t let Siri interrupt what I’m doing. The fact that the assistant and the incoming calls already only occupy a part of the screen helps to keep track of what we were doing.
- The Picture-in-Picture for videos has also been released in this iOS 14, allowing us to continue doing other tasks without losing sight of the content we were watching.
iPadOS 14, decaf, but with interesting improvements
- Being able to use a mouse and keyboard in games is something that brings the iPad even closer to a computer, this being one of the most outstanding novelties of iPadOS 14.
- The improvements seen in Spotlight , the classic iPad search engine, are really remarkable. In addition to the fact that it no longer occupies the entire screen, but a part of it, its universal search is also expanded.

- Improved interface in native applications such as Photos or Files, making their use much more comfortable. This is especially visible when using the iPad horizontally.
- The functions of the Apple Pencil have increased and now we can even write manually with it and have the iPad detect it and transform it into digital text quickly.
- The amount of compatible iPad is another great news and it is that models with a few years on top continue to update their software. The iPad 5 or iPad Air 2 are an example of this.
watchOS 7 helps us fight COVID-19
- Timer hand washing is one of the most curious and at the same time relevant functions of watchOS 7, allowing us to maintain good hygiene that ultimately prevents us from possible infections such as COVID-19.
- With this version we can also perform an analysis of our sleep , obtaining interesting relaxation functions for the moments before going to bed and with information about our hours of sleep when we wake up.

- Sharing spheres has never been so easy and now we can download, create and share our favorite covers with everyone.
- Precisely the new watchOS 7 dials, although rarer than other years, are tremendously beautiful. Some have even been designed by renowned artists.
- Animations are much faster now, making even older Watches look like new. Performance remains the same, but apparently it feels more fluid.
macOS 11 revolutionized our Macs
- The complete redesign of the interface is the most apparent that we find, with transparencies in the windows, hidden unusable functions, with new app icons, redesigned widgets and an aspect that is definitely much more reminiscent of iOS and iPadOS.
- A Control Center has been added from which to manage the sound, brightness or Bluetooth accessories connected to the Mac without having to fill the menu bar with icons.

- The iMessage service finally resembles that of iOS , being able to add effects and the rest of the functions available on mobile devices.
- You can already load iPhone and iPad apps on Macs, although it must be said that this will only be possible in those that have Apple Silicon as a processor.
- Safari also improved visually and functionally, adding a native translator, privacy features for the websites we visit, and a much higher speed.
A weak tvOS 14, but that improved the experience
- It sounds illogical, but until this version we have not been able to start enjoying YouTube videos in 4K on Apple TVs.
- Now it is possible to connect two pairs of Bluetooth headphones to the same device, as long as it is an Apple TV 4K, which is so far the only one with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity that allows this function.
- Picture-in-Picture has also reached Apple TV, so that if you have to go to the settings or some other app, you don’t have to pause the video you were playing.

- It is now possible to manage HomeKit-compatible accessories from an Apple TV, something that was not possible until tvOS 14.
- Apple Fintess + , despite being linked to the Apple Watch, you can squeeze much more in the Apple TV. It only remains that this service ends up being extended to countries.
These are in the end what, in our opinion, are the most outstanding novelties. Of course they are not the only ones and you probably have yours too. We encourage you to tell us about them on our social networks or in the comment box of this article.
