Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra vs iPhone 11 Pro Max: Differences and Which One to Buy

Xiaomi has surprised with the launch of the Mi 10 Ultra , as part of its celebrations for the 10th anniversary of the firm. We are facing one of the best terminals built by the firm, which has come to hit the table in sections such as photography. But what happens if we compare it on paper with a whole iPhone 11 Pro Max ? Are both devices so different?

The answer is yes, but the differences between the two terminals are enormous, taking into account the operating system, the hardware and even the price in the first place. In addition, between the launch of one terminal and another there is almost a year of difference. However, it is worth looking at them closely to see if there are really so many differences and which one may be more worthwhile.

Design and display

If we take a first look at the aesthetic section, we see that Xiaomi has long since banished the notch in the form of an eyebrow, while it is still an Apple stamp and that presumably it could be repeated even in the next iPhone 12. When Apple makes a mold It takes time to break it, and it shows compared to its Android competition, which is advancing by leaps and bounds.

The Mi 10 Ultra has a large 6.67-inch screen with 1,080 x 2,340 pixels OLED technology , compared to the Super Retina XDR OLED panel of the iPhone 11 Pro Max and its 1,242 x 2,688 pixels. The two terminals offer the same aspect ratio with their 19.5: 9. It should be borne in mind that the Mi 10 Ultra offers an 89.5% screen percentage with respect to the frames, speeding up better than the 83.7% of the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Their technologies

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra has an advantage in terms of the passage of time, since its screen is compatible with HDR10 +, while the iPhone does the same with HDR10 . In addition, the refresh rate reaches up to 120Hz in the Xiaomi device, while the Apple terminal stays at the 60Hz standard.

Protection

The two terminals boast of having Gorilla Glass to protect the screen and the back. But only Xiaomi reveals that it is Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and Gorilla Glass 6 to cover the rear glass. The iPhone 11 Pro Max details Gorilla Glass on both sides, but the detailed information in this regard is opaque on Apple’s part.

Weight and thickness

If we look at the thickness of both terminals, there is a surprising difference that balances the scale in Apple’s favor. It is possible that Xiaomi has gotten out of hand with the 9.5 millimeters that the Mi 10 Ultra sports, compared to the more restrained 8.1 millimeters of the iPhone 11 Pro Max. However, it is even more surprising that Xiaomi achieves a lower weight, 221.8 grams, compared to the 226 grams of the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Both weights could be considered as “high” within the standard seen in 2020 and taking into account the weight of its rivals. A Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, for example, weighs 208 grams.

Processor and memory

When lifting the hood we see that the Mi 10 Ultra sports a Snapdragon 865, which has to face the A13 Bionic of the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Although we are facing different processors, both perform at the highest level. If we take into account the scores of both in the famous AnTuTu performance program, we see that the Mi 10 Ultra is close to 590,000 points while the iPhone 11 Pro Max exceeds 522,000 points.

At the memory level, the Mi 10 Ultra has variants that start at 8GB and can reach 16GB of RAM. The Apple terminal, due to its different operating system and architecture, performs almost at the same level with its 4GB of RAM. Both can reach 512 GB of internal memory, but neither can expand it using microSD cards.

The cameras in detail

If we flip both terminals, we find camera configurations, which seem to be years apart. In addition, Xiaomi has set the bar high by positioning itself in the first position of the DxOMark ranking as the terminal with the best camera on the market.

Recording video

We find an important difference when capturing video with both terminals, since the Mi 10 Ultra allows recording in 8K resolution at 24fps , while it does the same with 4K recording at both 30 and 60 fps. The iPhone 11 Pro Max captures video in 4K at 24/30/60 fps. As for slow motion recording, time stops more on the Xiaomi device with its 960fps compared to the 240fps of the iPhone.

Connections and battery

As for the connections, both have the main ones including NFC, but only the Xiaomi terminal offers fingerprint unlocking on the screen. Neither has a 3.5mm headphone jack or FM radio , but again only the Mi 10 Ultra has an infrared port. Of course, the two move with the latest versions of Android and iOS, although the ones to win in the section of lasting updates over time, the iPhone 11 Pro Max has.

Big difference in load

There is also an important difference in the battery section, since the Mi 10 Ultra has a large 4,500 mAh battery with a 120W fast charge , while the iPhone 11 Pro Max reaches 3,969 mAh with an 18W charge. The differences are substantial, as the Xiaomi can fully charge its battery in around 40 minutes, while the iPhone charges 50% in 30 minutes.

Far away in price

The price differences are abysmal between the two terminals. The Mi 10 Ultra starts at 650 euros in its most modest variant with 8 GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory, and can reach approximately 860 euros in its most powerful version with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage . The 64 GB iPhone 11 Pro Max already costs a whopping 1,259 euros, reaching up to 1,659 euros in the case of choosing the 512 GB variant.
