Windows Trick: Enable Windows 10X Boot Animation

Windows 10X is going to be Microsoft‘s new operating system that will see the light of day this year. This system will be designed, above all, to work on touch devices such as tablets, ARM equipment and computers with dual screens. This operating system has long been in the RTM development phase, and will see the light of day for the first time in April / May of this year. At first, its characteristics are exclusive to devices running this system. However, Microsoft has hidden some Easter eggs within its Windows 10 that allow us to test some of its features.

Changing the boot animation, or boot, of Windows has been one of the most sought after customization options by users. Since Windows XP, any user could use third-party tools to change the logo and system animation for other elements of their own making. With this, we could get a 100% own and unique Windows. Of course, with the risk that, if something goes wrong, we could run out of PC.

Enable Windows 10X Boot Animation

Windows 10X is going to release a new boot animation that, although it is similar to the one we can find in the normal version of the operating system, is in turn different. And, if we want to test it without installing this new operating system, Microsoft has hidden a trick in the latest versions of Windows that allows us to do so. And, in addition, without having to use any software to modify the bootloader.

Enable animation of the new Windows in Windows 10

This new trick, for now, is only available in the last two Insider versions of Windows 1o , that is, in builds 20279 and 21292. If we have one of these builds we can activate this new animation. Otherwise, nope.

To do this, the only thing we are going to have to do is make a small change in the operating system registry. To do this, in the Windows 10 search bar we will write “regedit” to open the editor, and once there we will go to the following route:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control

We right click on a blank space that we see, and we will create a new registry key called ” BootControl “. Inside it, we will create a new 32-bit DWORD value called ” BootProgressAnimation “, and we will give it the value “1”.

Regedit BootProgressAnimation

Ready. We restart the computer and, when it starts up again, we will be able to see how, instead of the classic animation, the new loading effect appears in Windows 10. If later we want to revert the changes, we will only have to eliminate the value “BootProgressAnimation” that we have created, or give it a value of zero.

Efecto boot Windows 10X

Windows 10X, the most fluid operating system

As the launch of this new operating system approaches, we begin to know more details about it. One of the last that we have seen in a video is the fluidity of the system. And, as we can see, the truth is that the performance it offers us is more than surprising.

Windows 10X is a highly optimized operating system . In exchange for sacrificing many functionalities of the normal Windows 10 we obtain an outstanding performance in every way. A system that, despite running on relatively modest hardware, has nothing to envy a Windows 10 running on a high-end PC. And neither to other operating systems, such as macOS, in terms of fluidity and performance.

We will have to wait a few more months to see if all this is maintained. Meanwhile, if we want, we can test Windows 10X on our PC thanks to Microsoft’s virtualization.
