When buying a new computer, there are many hardware components to which we must pay special attention. Here we refer to the processor, RAM, disk drives, graphics , etc. But when it comes to software, usually all we know – or hope for – is that it includes Windows 10, in most cases.
However, something that we must take into account is that the software is, like the components that are part of the PC, elements of extreme importance. It is true that Windows 10 itself brings with it a series of pre-installed UWP applications that are not to the taste of most. But the Redmond-based firm includes them so we can get up and running right out of the box, with no additional installations. This for many is an unnecessarily occupied space, for others it is a relief.

What to do with the third-party antivirus that comes pre-installed in Windows 10
Now, this is not what we want to talk about in these lines, but about the antivirus section. And it is that on many occasions we can find that together with Windows 10 itself and its UWP applications , the PC provider also makes a third-party antivirus available to us. These, as a rule, are usually from developers such as Norton, McAfee, etc.
Perhaps some users, like this at first, think that this is good news, since they buy a computer with a powerful antivirus already installed. But let’s take a closer look at this situation. The first thing to keep in mind is that Windows 10 itself is a system that already has its own antivirus, that is, it is part of the operating system. Specifically, we are talking about Windows Defender, Microsoft‘s security solution that does not stop growing and improving.

It is true that for many this is an antivirus that does not have, at least for the moment, the popularity or tradition of the proposals that we can find pre-installed. But with everything and with it, in these times, Windows Defender has little or nothing to envy these.
Windows Defender vs other antivirus, what to choose
With everything and with this, everyone is free to choose the software they prefer, both antivirus and belonging to any other sector. The problem is that it does not end there. Keep in mind that as a general rule, that third-party antivirus that we find is not free. Probably at first it will be, for a month, two, or six, but sooner or later, the license that the equipment distributor provides us will expire.
However, in parallel, we must know that Windows Defender is free, forever, since its price is included in the system license that we already pay. Therefore, and once we know all this, logic will let us see that it is best to continue using Windows Defender instead of the included antivirus that we find.
Now, as we say, everyone is free to choose what they prefer, you can also try the second option during the stipulated trial time. From there, once that time is up, delete it and stick with Defender, or start paying for a similar security solution.
