Windows 8 Remastered Edition – Revamped Operating System Concept

Windows 8 has not been one of the most popular operating systems. Rather, this system has served as a transition, or nexus, between 7 and the current 10. It brought functions from its predecessor, while experimenting with functions and features, many of which, ultimately, are what shaped Windows 10. 8 seemed somewhat incomplete, a system designed for mobiles and tablets instead of for PC. If it didn’t even have a start menu! Broadly speaking, Windows 8 was a disaster. However, it could have been a great operating system if it had been as Windows 8 Remastered Edition presents it to us.

Once again, Addy Visuals wanted to show how, with a little love, Windows 8 could have become a great operating system. Better, even, than the current version of the operating system, at least aesthetically speaking. Thus, this well-known designer has published a new concept, Windows 8 Remastered Edition, which has left us speechless.

Windows 8 Remastered Edition – Everything that should have been and was not

This new concept comes to be something similar to a “remastering” of the operating system, as its name indicates, but maintaining its essence. The first thing that strikes us about this concept is the start menu. This was one of the most hated parts of Microsoft‘s system, a very unintuitive full-screen start menu to use with a keyboard and mouse. However, with a few adjustments it would have been possible to make it much more practical. We are also struck by Cortana , the Windows 10 assistant that could perfectly have been present on this system

System windows, such as the file explorer , show a much more neat and refined appearance. Without reaching the Fluent Design, as in the concepts of Windows 10, we can see how with a few small changes the same file explorer goes from being a program of 20 years ago to being a modern, current tool.

The Windows 10 Settings menu could also have been present in Win 8. However, instead of being placed as an alternative to the Control Panel, it would act as a plug-in. What’s more, even within this configuration we can find a direct access to this Control Panel.

Personalization is also very important. This remastered version of Windows 8 supports classic Windows themes, plus a light and dark theme as standard, extending from desktop to applications. We can even find an Aero 8 theme, for those who miss transparencies and are looking for something more similar to Windows 7.

We can see in detail everything that this new concept of Windows 8 remastered offers us from the video of its designer.

A Windows that will never come true

As we indicated on other occasions, this is nothing more than a concept, a design imagined by Addy Visuals about what the operating system could be like if its design were pampered a little more. Therefore, it is not a topic or a configuration . Nor will there be an ISO image that allows us to install either 8.2 or Windows 8 Remastered Edition.

Windows 8 will no longer receive any more changes. Microsoft will continue to support it until the end of the cycle and, from there, it will go to the XP and 7 drawer as abandoned operating systems.
