As you may already know, we are in the month of October 2020 and just a few hours ago we spent the so-called Microsoft Patch Tuesday. That is precisely the day that the Redmond-based firm sends us monthly updates for its products, with a special emphasis on Windows 10 . Thus, as is usual on the second Tuesday of each month, Microsoft sends the teams that still have support, their corresponding patches.
As we told you, this is something that occurred just a few hours ago, when we began to receive those corresponding to the month of October 2020. As we are used to, these are responsible for solving several bugs , among these the last detected security .
These patches fix 87 vulnerabilities in Windows
First of all we will tell you that on this Tuesday of Microsoft’s October 2020 patches, the firm has published corrections for a total of 87 vulnerabilities in its products. Of all of them, 12 are classified as critical, while another 74 are classified as important, in addition to one as moderate. That is why the company recommends the installation of these security patches as soon as possible.

- Version 1803: fixes 48 vulnerabilities, 7 of them critical and 41 important.
- Version 1809: fixes 48 vulnerabilities, 7 of them critical and 41 important.
- Version 1903: fixes 49 vulnerabilities, 7 of them critical and 42 important.
- Version 1909: fixes 48 vulnerabilities, 7 of them critical and 41 important.
Other bugs fixed in these updates
It is also worth knowing that if we focus on the latest version of Windows 10, 2004, Microsoft fixes several bugs. Here we find the cumulative update KB4579311 that fixes an issue with a possible permission upload in win32k. It also fixes an issue with the Group Policy service that could delete critical files in alphabetical order from the systm32 folder.
It is worth mentioning that this problem occurs when a policy has been configured to delete profiles in the cache. This file deletion could cause Windows system boot failure in some cases. An issue in creating null ports through the user interface is also resolved. And that’s not all, but more generic bugs are corrected in Windows applications, Microsoft’s graphical component, Windows authentication, and the system Kernel.
Regarding the cumulative update KB4577671 for Windows 10 version 1909 and 1903, in this case the corrected bugs are the same as those detected in the mentioned version 2004. However, for version 1809 of Windows 10 the firm launches the patch KB4577668. Here, in addition to the mentioned errors solved, we must add one more. And it is that it solves a problem that made the applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange or DDE stop responding when closing them.
Known bugs in October patches
Installing a third-party driver may give a verification of the same during validation by Windows.
Windows may display a compatibility dialog when you try to upgrade to version 1903 or 1909 from a previous version. It reports that they cannot download the necessary packages.
