TikTok is getting a new feature that will sound much more familiar to you than you might imagine as the feature screens show you notifications to post dual camera images that you can share with your friends. Sound like something to you? Exactly, TikTok is copying BeReal.
Capitalizing on the growing popularity of BeReal, TikTok joins the list of services that includes a dual camera feature .
They have officially announced it on their blog as one of the new possibilities to create content on the platform, promoting it as a service that sends you daily notifications to capture an image or video with your rear and selfie cameras . With it you can share your most authentic moments with the people who really matter to you.
The imitation of BeReal is coming soon
It’s called TikTok Now and it’s a clear reflection of the famous BeReal service, to the point where they even send you a daily notification to take a snapshot. In the images the company has shown, this new feature has its own dedicated tab right next to the home button at the bottom of the app.
Like BeReal, users have to post their own take at a moment in time to see what their friends have shared, and there is a period of time when their post is ‘on time’. Specifically, 3 minutes. But unlike BeReal, it allows you to post 10-second videos in addition to still images.
This may be one of the main attractions of the service, being able to post photos or short videos at a certain time to encourage authentic and spontaneous connections on TikTok.
It’s interesting to know that the default setting for this feature is ‘friends can see’, but you can change it on the post screen itself by clicking on that same message and choosing who you want to see these posts . They can be your friends or everyone. In addition, to increase the security of the service for minors, they have specific limitations according to age.
They are currently testing TikTok Now and it will likely be introduced in the next few weeks. The first to receive it will be users in the United States, who will see it in the main app, while in other regions it could be a standalone app. To see it in Spain we will have to wait a while, although if it has a bit of the success that BeReal has had, it is very likely that it will continue to expand.
What is BeReal?

It is a social app that sends each user one push notification at a time and takes two photos: one with the rear camera and another authentic image with the selfie camera. There is a 2 minute countdown timer. If you post outside of this time it will tell you that it is late and if you do it at the moment it will say that you have done it ‘on time’.
One of the main differences that we find with TikTok is the time, which in the latter is increased by one minute to reach 3 minutes of time in which you can act.
