Samsung: How to Activate the Function to Avoid Accidental Touches

Accidental touches with our mobile is something that we have been suffering from for years. Fortunately, many manufacturers have put a stop to this problem, enabling functions that prevent us from performing unwanted actions on our mobile. Samsung terminals with OneUI integrate this function, so let’s see how we can activate it.

Samsung: How to Avoid Accidental Touches

Accidentally calling someone, dialing a number at random and inadvertently, or even initiating unwanted video calls on platforms such as WhatsApp or Skype, are some of the actions resulting from accidental touches, which can occur when our mobile is on a purse or pocket. Luckily, the Samsung Galaxy have an option to avoid accidental dialing, keeping the screen inactive and safe from any unwanted touch, which can sometimes give us the odd scare when we turn the screen back on.

How to activate the function

In order to activate the function we will have to go to Settings and enter the options on the screen. Next, we will see a switch called Protection against accidental touches. We will only have to touch for the function to be activated. Now all unwanted tapping and marking will be avoided. The system recognizes when the mobile is in a dark and unused place, in order to implement this protection.

Blinking light, a glitch?

As a consequence of activating this function, a small light the size of a pixel may be observed flickering on the top of our Galaxy in the dark. This occurs when we touch the screen while the accidental touch protection function is activated and the always-on screen is preset to “Touch to show”.

The reason

The reason, according to Samsung, is because the proximity sensor works with Protection against accidental touches , but this is not a product defect. Some models that have a proximity sensor behind the display panel, the sensor is turned on to determine if it is in a pocket when the screen is turned on in low light (10 lux or less). When the proximity sensor is activated, the phenomenon of light flickering is recognized by the photoelectric effect. This occurs in mobiles that have the proximity sensor behind the display panel, that is, in the models: Galaxy A91, Galaxy A90 5G, Galaxy Note 10 series, Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy Z Flip.
