One of the biggest inconveniences for many mobile users occurs when the screen turns on when receiving notifications . An option that, in some phones, is deactivated by default, but in many others it is activated.
Where is the problem? More than anything because it causes that, even if we don’t touch the terminal, when we get a message or notification from any app, the panel wakes up. Something that will be great for some to find out at all times about all the notices they are receiving. On the other hand, for others it will mean an unnecessary battery drain at all times.

But, in many aspects this will depend on the tastes of each user, if we prefer the screen to be activated with notifications or not, but nevertheless we must take into account several things that happen on our mobile when having the option activated. A better possibility may be the Always on Display mode, although not all smartphones integrate it. In any case, we will tell you how to disable this functionality on your iPhone or Android. Although, if you enable the Do Not Disturb mode, you will be getting it in the fastest way, but it is clearly a short-term solution.
Is it bad that it lights up?
There are no serious drawbacks for which we decide to stop having the screen activated with each notification , although there are small buts that can encourage us to remove the option. All these reasons are the following, which you will have to put on a scale to choose if you prefer to activate or deactivate it.

The first and most important thing is that turning on the screen continuously consumes more battery and, in turn, is causing wear and tear on it. In addition, this will end up taking its toll on us in the long run. And it is that nobody wants to have to recharge their smartphone more than once a day, much less because the notifications turn on the phone’s display. On the other hand, it can also be annoying that the panel lights up completely in the dark.
How to remove it on Android
By default, on mobile phones that have the Google operating system without any customization layer, the option is very simple and is not usually activated by default. So you shouldn’t worry. However, in some cases we can run into this or have configured it this way by mistake without realizing it at the time. Therefore, once we are determined to change it, we will only have to do the following:

- We access the Settings of the Android mobile.
- We touch on the Screen section.
- Now we look for the lock panel option.
- And finally we deactivate the option called Activate screen if there are notifications.
In the layers of Xiaomi, Huawei and Samsung
The Xiaomi brand is one of the manufacturers that for years had the option to wake up the panel with alerts activated by default, although little by little it has been modifying it in MIUI 12. To modify it on our smartphone, we will only have to enter Settings > Lock screen and uncheck the option Activate the lock display for notifications. Something quick and simple that has changed in recent times.

Another of the manufacturers that from the beginning usually turns on the screen with each notification is Huawei, although we will also be able to deactivate it with a quick option in all versions of EMUI. In this chaos, you just have to go to Settings> Notifications> More notification settings and we have an option that affects the entire system to activate or deactivate the panel.

By default on Samsung phones with One UI there is no option that causes the touch to turn on when receiving notifications , which is a reason for joy so that we do not have the aforementioned problems. However, they will appear on the Always on Display screen that is present in so many Samsung smartphones and more and more.

If we want to remove the notifications from the Always On Display screen of our Samsung mobile, we just have to do these steps:
- We enter Settings.
- Click on Notifications.
- We deactivate the option Show in Always on Display.
On other Android phones
In the rest of Android mobiles, such as Motorola, LG, Vivo or Realme smartphones, this option is not activated by default and in many of them there is also no option to activate the screen with each notification .
However, in other customization layers it is being added, but removing it is as simple as we have seen in the first step. We can also choose to write within the Settings in the search bar activate screen and the option we are looking for will come up directly.
Turn it off on iPhones
Within Apple smartphones, things will be much simpler, since they all share the same operating system interface, that is, it is not like Android where we can find different layers of customization. Therefore, the steps that we must follow can be applied to any iPhone .
As we said, the battery consumption by the screen is one of the elements that every user wants to ‘cut’ in the bud. Basically, because nobody wants the smartphone to run out of battery without using it, and all because the touch panel is constantly activated when we receive a notification. Although, there is an inconvenience that does not happen to us on Android, and that is that we must deactivate it in each of the apps that we want. That is, we don’t have a special setting that does it all at once.

Therefore, to deactivate this setting on our iPhone, it will be as simple as following this process:
- Go into the phone settings.
- Click on the Notifications section.
- Enter an app that you do not want to turn on the display when messages arrive.
- Choose only the Notification Center option.
What we will achieve with this option is that the alerts of that application will begin to appear only in the Notification Center, but not in the locked panel. This means that they will not emit any type of sound or show strips or balloons on the icons, in addition to the fact that the iPhone screen will not turn on.
Basically, and if we pay attention once we return to the previous menu, we will see that Notify discreetly appears. In this way, we will continue to allow them to reach us, but the Apple phone display will not turn on.
the alternative
If you don’t want the panel to light up constantly with every message you receive, you can try using the notification LED that we can still find on some smartphones. But, if this is not your case, you can get to achieve it in an ‘artificial’ way. In this way, you will save a lot of energy, since the phone’s display will not turn on every so often. Therefore, we recommend the following app:
When we have it installed on the mobile, we can start configuring it. First, we must give it all the necessary permissions and, later, we can go to the last tab, from where we can configure various aspects of the LED , among which we find the position in which the screen is located.
However, you should also check if your smartphone has a function so that only the edges of the panel are illuminated, instead of the entire screen. Some layers, such as ColorOS or One UI, come with this tool as standard, so we encourage you to first try the previous app, and then to investigate if your smartphone has a tool to illuminate the edges .
