Samsung has launched its new operating system together with the Galaxy S23 series that was presented a couple of weeks ago in society. We are talking about, of course, One UI 5.1, the latest version of the brand’s system that comes with juicy new features that will later reach other phones from the manufacturer.
Many users, knowing everything that the new software brings, want to try it, but for now, the only way to do it is to buy one of the Galaxy S23 models. Don’t worry though, as it looks like Samsung plans to start updating the system on its other smartphones sooner rather than later.
According to the information published by the Canadian mobile operator Fido on its website, the One UI 5.1 update will be released for 5 of its large phones on February 22. These would be the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4, that is, the great flagships of last year. Although Samsung has not yet announced it, and everything comes from the hand of an operator, the reality is that this update should begin to be implemented in other regional markets, not just in one of the countries that is in charge of shooting down UFOs in recent hours.
Finally, reference is also made to the Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy X Fold and Z Flip 3 and the Samsung Galaxy S20 series. All of them will also be updated accordingly, although, in this case, there are no specific dates. In addition, we must take into account many other smartphones of the brand that should also receive their share of updates, since the brand is based on a guarantee of at least three system updates.
Therefore, we can think that One UI 5.1 would be compatible with all phones that currently use One UI 5.0 as the operating system, that is, almost the entire current line of Galaxy phones. Note that the firm has previously revealed which flagship devices in its catalog will get the One UI 5.1 update . We can suspect that the older and cheaper the device, the longer it will take for the update to reach its owners, as it happens with other brands.
What’s new in One UI 5.1
The One UI 5.1 update is based on Android 13 and adds many new features , especially in terms of photography, where a new color profile is used, access to the Expert RAW shooting mode (if the device supports it) or the introduction of the ability to share albums with family members, through the gallery app. To this we add an improved ability to remaster images.
There’s also a new battery widget, an improved weather widget, new wallpapers, real-time collaboration in Samsung Notes, the ability to change objects in images so you can use them as a sticker. Of course, there is no shortage of classic bug fixes that make mobiles that update to One UI 5.1 work much better in terms of power and performance.
