Everything comes to an end and it is never too late to change. I had been at Vodafone for several years without too many problems, but there was something that did not quite convince me. The red operator is somewhat stagnant in terms of news and had the need to try other things. I knew that O2 was a safe bet with all the good things about Movistar and without all the bad things about Movistar. So, after several calls not to leave, I completed my switch to O2. Of course, all that glitters is not gold and I have detected several things that could improve.
First of all, I would like to thank Vodafone for their treatment at all times, since, as I have explained, I have never had any serious problem with the operator (not even the aforementioned billing problems). From now on, I began my career at O2 with high expectations by contracting its most powerful combination: 1000 Mbps fiber + mobile with 100 gigabytes.

Inexpensive, inflexible additional lines
And here precisely came the first thing that would change. O2 offers several additional lines for customers with a combined rate, but you can only contract some according to your modality. In my case, I had to opt for a second line with 100 gigabytes even though I wasn’t going to need it . In fact, with much less gigabytes I can survive, as well as saving some money every month.
My suggestion is that the rates for additional lines be standardized and that they can be combined as the user wishes. Taking into account their values that they offer “an ethical and simple service” , this incompatibility of contracting according to what additional rates depending on the combined one that we have seems, at best, debatable.
Around with 5G
O2 does have 5G, even though on its website they say that “O2 uses the network and coverage of Telefónica, present in 97% of the national territory. With it you will have the best experience when making calls, sending SMS or browsing at maximum speed with 4G/4G+” . The 5G coverage has been confirmed by dozens of people in forums and social networks, so it makes no sense not to inform customers about it.

This really isn’t a complaint either and can fit in with the commercial aspects of O2 so as not to “harm” Movistar , but the truth is that it is taking away an important incentive when deciding on them. In fact, if we only look at the price, there are many who will opt for operators like Digi, so bragging about a 5G connection does not seem like a bad idea.
Multi SIM price
Another service that has not convinced me is the MultiSIM. Yes, they are one of the few alternative operators to the big four that offer this service, but I consider that the conditions are not the best. The rate of 5 euros per month to have the service means that we end up paying 60 euros per year . Not to mention that we can have several lines with this need.
In my case, a cost of 120 euros per year to provide connection to two Apple Watch . It is clear that it cannot be a free service, but Orange’s 2.95 euros per month seem more in line with the price that this service should have, at least from my point of view. It can even be included with the most premium mobile rates, but that would still break with O2 values.
Web private area
Yes, nowadays everything is mobile and apps have conquered everything, but it is not acceptable for an operator like O2 to continue with the private customer area of the web under construction after several months. From the app we can do everything, but there are times when we are with a PC or we simply consider that it is more comfortable to access by these means.

For this reason, they should put their batteries to finish this private area and that it begins to offer, at least, the same content and the same options as its direct rivals. There are many procedures carried out through telephone calls that we could save.
Wi-Fi 6 Router
Movistar’s Smart WiFi router, which is the same one installed by O2, is a good device, but many years have passed since its launch and technology continues to evolve. The truth is that Telefónica has been caught by the bull with WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E technology , since it has been one of the last to launch a new adapted router.
In fact, it is not freely available on the web and is only being installed on a small group of clients. I believe that offering this service to customers, both Movistar and O2, should be a priority for this 2022 and for 2023.
