Windows 10 is an operating system that is in constant development. Until its launch, it was rare to find changes in a specific version of the operating system beyond the typical “Service Packs” that were usually released after a few years. Now, every 6 months we have to update Windows to improve it little by little and to enjoy the news and improvements that Microsoft has prepared for us. And, although in a few days we will all be able to make the jump to the October 2020 Update, Microsoft is already experimenting with new features that will arrive in the operating system in 2021 or 2022.
Windows 10 20H2 will be a very small update, just 100 megabytes . Therefore, we will not find major changes and news in the October update that we will receive shortly. What’s more, the experiments that we are going to talk about have not even been tested in the Windows 10 21H1 build Insider yet, since, before presenting them to users, Microsoft must verify that they work well and that they adapt to the experience that they want to find the operating system.

Important changes to the Windows 10 interface
We have been seeing small changes in the interface of the operating system for some time. Especially in the initial setup. Starting with the next version of Windows, the operating system will be able to adjust the desktop automatically according to our tastes and interests.
As part of the development of Windows 10X , Microsoft is migrating many of the additional features of the operating system to an experience based on web technologies. Therefore, we will probably very soon see a new initial configuration wizard based on CloudExperienceHost that gives a much more modern touch to the system. The same can happen with many options and system configurations, which instead of showing classic interfaces could migrate to new web interfaces that will work both with and without the Internet.
Fluent Design more and more places
Fluent Design is the Windows 10 design standard. This has a series of rules that, little by little, are reaching all the elements of the operating system. However, there are still many parts of Windows 10 that have not been updated to this modern design. There are even aspects of it, such as transparencies, that have not yet been implemented correctly.
In addition to continuing to optimize this design, and adding the missing features, Microsoft is already working on bringing it to other parts of the system, such as the timeline or the application switch window.
New Spotlight backgrounds
This was leaked last week. Microsoft is working to bring us a revolutionary way to change your wallpaper every day. When it’s ready, and Microsoft brings it to all users, the Spotlight backgrounds will no longer only be exclusive to the lock screen, but we can also use them as wallpaper. Thus, instead of having to use a presentation, we will let Windows itself show us the image of the day as a wallpaper.

Change default programs (cheat)
Of course, Windows 10 lets us change the default programs that we want to use in the operating system: browser, player, etc. And, although he always tries to sweep at home, he leaves us in the end to choose the program that we want.
Some users complain that it is difficult to change Windows default programs. And, therefore, Microsoft is already working on a new way to do it. The company will recommend the programs that it considers that we want to use as default and, with one click, will allow us to configure them as such.
What happen? That the company tries to get us to configure its own programs. Therefore, we must be careful.
Windows 10X features on the desktop
Windows 10X will be the minimalist, web-based operating system for all types of touch devices, such as tablets. However, there are many features that can be useful for users of the standard version of Windows. Therefore, it is very likely that we will also see how, in the face of 2022, some characteristics end up reaching this OS.
One of the aspects that most caught the attention of this operating system was its search engine and start menu . Who wouldn’t want to have it on their main computer? Hopefully it ends up arriving, both for everyone and as an option, since it is much cleaner and tidier than the current one.

This operating system also brings revolutionary changes, such as, for example, a new file browser in the purest Modern Design style. All this, and much more, we hope it does not remain as something exclusive to Windows 10X.
And what about Sets, the browser tabs?
It’s been a few years since Microsoft taught us a revolutionary concept for the Windows desktop: Sets. This concept allowed us to open several tabs within the same window so that, for example, we could open two file browsers within the same window.
From one day to the next, this concept disappeared. We are sure that some developers in the company are still working on this feature, and they will probably even experiment with it within the company itself until they get it to work perfectly. However, until today, nothing has been heard from the browser tabs again.

As always, these changes will reach Insider users who are subscribed to the Dev channel first. Although we will still have to wait at least 6 months (if not more) to find any of these experiments. Of course, as long as they come to fruition.
