The mobile phone has become an essential tool also in driving and that has made many manufacturers, if not all, have been encouraged to include Android Auto in their cars. However, one of the biggest drawbacks we have encountered so far was the wireless Android Auto compatibility, which was restricted to Google Pixel and Samsung models such as Samsung Galaxy Note 10.
This will be possible thanks to Android 11 , the new version that is currently in beta phase has already revealed this feature through Google’s support pages . What was almost impossible to use before, now becomes a practically free access function, because if our smartphone is updated to Android 11, we take it for sure that you could use it.
Even so, we do not want to be happy and we are going to explain everything that will be necessary to enjoy Android Auto without cables . On the support page itself, another requirement is not explained in detail that remains in doubt and possibly makes us disappointed.
Requirements for using wireless Android Auto
Google itself informs us that it is only necessary that we have Android 11 on the mobile and in turn compatibility with 5GHz WiFi networks. This opens the doors to all the mobiles that we can find in Spain currently for sale from the official websites, so far everything seems correct. We would only have to wait to receive the update if our mobile enters the Android 11 plans.
However, compatibility with 5 GHz networks poses difficulties for us to connect our mobile to WiFi, which would be a fast and stable enough connection point for Android Auto to function normally. This is where the problem appears.
Is any car or radio compatible?
Not all cars have in their control panel the possibility to connect to serial WiFi networks, nor to generate them. Google itself does not certify all cars or multimedia radios as compatible with Android Auto, although it is possible that with a first connection via cable for Android Auto it can be achieved, but so far there is no way to do it in cars without it. compatibility even if we have Android 11.
