All operating systems, whether Android or iOS, and all customization layers, whether One UI, EMUI or MIUI, to name the most famous, enjoy a complete multitasking system. In the case of Xiaomi, MIUI multitasking has evolved with each new version of the software to offer the user different tools that they may not be aware of.
MIUI opts for an arrangement in two columns of cards, so that when you open multitasking , either with the corresponding button or by sliding your finger from the bottom of the screen and holding down the middle of the display, it is very easy to navigate through running apps.
But in addition to navigating through it using a vertical scroll, the system adds a series of shortcuts to each application. In the following lines we tell you everything you can do when using each of the icons that appear in this multitasking of your Xiaomi smartphone.
How does multitasking work?
In this panel all the apps that we have open on the phone are grouped. By closing them, we can “free up” the phone’s RAM memory so that it performs better.
We can close all of them at the same time by clicking on the button identified with an “X” that remains fixed at the bottom of the screen or we can slide each of the cards up to close the corresponding application.
Block apps on Xiaomi
The first button that we find when clicking on one of the active cards is the one that allows blocking an app. Identified with a padlock, clicking on it prevents an application from closing and can continue to work in the background. When you press the button to close all multitasking apps, the blocked apps will remain active.
This is very useful, for example, when we want to receive notifications from a program and, no matter how much we configure the phone, there is no way to get it correctly.
Split screen on MIUI
MIUI multitasking has long allowed two apps to run in the same place and at the same time. To enable this split screen we have to click on the second button and choose the two apps that we want to use at the same time on the mobile.
Once the action is executed, you will be able to alter the space allocated to one or the other by clicking on the horizontal line that divides both apps. If you take it to the extreme, you will leave the split screen and you will be left with the chosen application occupying the entire screen.
Floating window on your Xiaomi
One of the most recent novelties that have come to Xiaomi phones after the growth of the screens of current phones is the possibility of using two apps at the same time but, instead of following the split screen system, one opens floating window over a main app.
To use it, we only have to click on the third multitasking button and the chosen app will be housed in a sale that we can move to our liking on the smartphone screen.
App information through multitasking
The last of the buttons, identified with a kind of gear, gives access to the information of the application we are working on. This is quite useful when we do not want to get lost in the smartphone configuration app as it allows us to alter all the settings of an app.
As if we access from the Xiaomi menu , we can know the storage, data use and battery it uses, manage its permissions or delete the cache and memory of the app if we see that the performance of your Xiaomi is not the Right.
