Yesterday a new version of iWork was launched, Apple‘s office suite that includes the Pages, Numbers and Keynote applications. This new version is already 11 and is available for both iPhone, iPad and Mac. Although they are updated throughout the year, it is not until these dates that the most important update is launched and the truth is that there are really interesting news.
iWork 11 Key New Features
These versions, as usual, bring corrections of errors that have been reported in previous versions. However, it brings more striking changes than these and not exactly the same in its desktop versions as in those of iPhone and iPad, so it is convenient to differentiate them.

What’s new in macOS
- Pages
- There is a new multimedia browser that offers new and improved searches, thereby adding categories such as Recent, Portraits and Live Photos.
- You can add phone numbers to table cells, text objects, or shapes.
- The AppleScript function allows you to change the password of a document or open several documents at the same time that they are protected in this way.

What’s new in iOS and iPadOS

- Pages
- You can now use “Handwriting” to be used with the Apple Pencil to automatically convert words to text, although it is exclusive to iPads with iPadOS 14 or later.
- The Layout inspector now includes more precise editing controls.
- The on-screen number keyboards have been improved allowing you to add exact values for text size, spacing, and other functions.
- It is now possible to add or remove objects or cells from a table with a quick selection by clicking and dragging them.
- New setting to always open documents in edit mode.
- Adding phone number links to table cells, objects, and shapes is now supported.
- Numbers
- On iPads with iPadOS 14 and later you can use “Handwriting” with the Apple Pencil, moving text from manual to digital.
- New Layout inspector that allows you to more precisely edit the appearance and location of objects.
- On-screen numeric keypads now allow you to enter exact values for a multitude of functions.
- Documents can now be opened in edit mode by default.
- Adding links to phone numbers in cells, objects, and shapes is now possible.
- An option to exclude the summary sheet is added when a sheet is exported from Numbers to Microsoft Excel.
- Keynote
- Enabled “Handwriting” function on iPad with iPadOS 14 and later.

How these apps are updated
Remember that iWork 11 is the whole, but Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are still differentiated applications. To update them, just go to the App Store on your device and update them. As always, it is completely free , this being another of iWork’s advantages over competitors such as Microsoft Office.
