Date of presentation and launch of the iPhone

September is usually Apple’s fetish month for the development of its new iPhones. This has been the case in recent years, presenting it in the first weeks of September at a special event and spending a week or two putting it on sale. However, this month has not always been the chosen one and in fact there has not always been a short distance between the presentation event and the launch date, since for various reasons it has been delayed from one year to another.

iPhone (original)

• Submission date: January 9, 2007.
• Release DATE: June 29, 2007.
• Base operating system: iPhone OS 1.
• Main new features : Everything was new as it was the first generation, although the highlight was its 3.5-inch capacitive multi-touch LCD screen, the possibility of accessing a web browser and applications, a 2 Mpx camera, 4 storage, 8 or 16 GB.

iPhone 3G

• Submission date: June 9, 2008.
• Release DATE: July 31, 2008.
• Base operating system: iPhone OS 2.
• Main news : Higher internet connection speed and compatibility with more applications with the arrival of the App Store, ‘push’ emails. Available in white or black.

iPhone 3GS

• Submission date: June 8, 2009.
• Release Date: June 19, 2009.
• Base operating system: iPhone OS 3.
• Main novelties : Improvements in battery, in internet connection, in camera that becomes 3 Mpx and with the possibility of recording video. The storage extends up to 32GB in its highest version.

Iphone 4

• Submission date: June 7, 2010.
• Release date: June 24, 2010
• Base operating system: iOS 4.
• Main novelties : New design with glass on the back, available in black and white. Improvements in battery, RAM and camera, going to have a 5 Mpx lens with HD video recording. It incorporates a 1.2 Mpx front camera.

Iphone 4s

• Submission date: October 4, 2011.
• Release date: October 14, 2011.
• Base operating system: iOS 5.
• Main novelties : Solution to coverage problems of the previous model, faster connection to the internet and complete integration of the Siri virtual assistant.

iPhone 5

• Submission date: September 12, 2012.
• Release date: September 21, 2012.
• Base operating system: iOS 6.
• Main new features : Available in space gray and silver. New design mixing glass with aluminum. Improved screen that reaches 4 inches. Possibility of connecting to 4G networks and improvements in cameras, battery and general performance.

Iphone 5s

• Submission date: September 10, 2013.
• Release date: September 20, 2013.
• Base operating system: iOS 7.
• Main new features : The gold color joins the space gray and silver. It adds the Touch ID fingerprint reader and includes slight improvements in general performance and cameras.

Iphone 5c

• Submission date: September 10, 2013.
• Release date: September 20, 2013.
• Base operating system: iOS 7.
• Main novelties : Same scheme as the iPhone 5, but with a design made of plastic materials and available in yellow, blue, green, red and white.

Iphone 6

• Main new features : New 4.7-inch size in a new design featuring an aluminum body. Camera and connectivity improvements.

iPhone 6 Plus

• Main news : Improvement of the Touch ID system and arrival of 3D Touch thanks to the new Taptic Engine.

iPhone 6s Plus

• Main news : Relocation of the antenna line compared to the iPhone 6 and 6s. Major improvements in camera and video recording.

iPhone 7 Plus

• Main news : The antenna line changes compared to the iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus. A dual camera is added for the first time with important features like the popular portrait mode.

iPhone 8

• Main novelties : Design practically identical to its predecessor, but with glass construction. Possibility of wireless charging with the Qi standard, slight improvements in camera and battery.

iPhone 8 Plus

• Main news : Design almost the same as the iPhone 7 Plus but made of glass. It incorporates the possibility of recharging through Qi wireless charging and slightly improves the camera and battery.

iPhone X

• Base operating system: iOS 11.
• Main news : The biggest change in the history of the iPhone. It eliminates the main button and has a front covered almost completely by its 5.7-inch OLED screen. Face ID is added as a biometric system eliminating Touch ID and video recording is improved. In the front camera it is now possible to take photos in portrait mode.

iPhone XS

• Main new features : Virtually identical to its predecessor, with slight improvements in performance, battery and camera. Available in silver, gold and space gray.

iPhone XS Max

• Main news : It was Apple’s largest phone to date with a 6.5-inch screen. Same features as the iPhone XS except for a longer battery life.

iPhone XR

• Main news : Phone launched as a cheaper model, with similar features to the XS but with greater autonomy and a 6.1-inch LCD screen. It has a single rear camera and is available in silver, space gray, red, yellow, blue and coral.

iPhone 11

• Main new features : Natural successor to the XR with identical screen features, but improvements in range and general performance. Add a dual camera capable of taking 4K videos and photos in low light conditions with night mode. Available in silver, space gray, red, yellow, purple and green.

• Main novelties : Triple camera with wide angle, ultra wide angle and telephoto lens. Latest generation OLED panel and new rear design with matte glass.

iPhone 11 Pro Max

• Main news : Identical features to the iPhone 11 Pro except for its 6.5-inch OLED screen and its autonomy 2 hours longer.

iPhone SE (2nd generation)

• Base operating system: iOS 13.
• Main news : Phone based on the iPhone 8, with identical design and battery. It adds improvements to its main and front cameras, as well as the black color of its front is available even in the white models.
