One of the functions that most users use daily on Android phones is Google Discover. This tool that puts the latest news that is most relevant to us on a tray offers us in a very comfortable way everything we need. However, sometimes we find it difficult to use Google Discover on Xiaomi phones with different versions of MIUI.
In recent times, the Chinese manufacturer has tried to make this easier, but there are devices that do not integrate this option and will not be updated to integrate it. With the intention of helping you, we are going to show you how to use Google Discover in MIUI without problems, being compatible options for entry-level, mid-range or top-of-the-range mobiles.
Activate Google Discover in MIUI 12
The first option is the simplest of all, but we can only use it if we have the latest version of MIUI . This option makes the process much easier for us and avoids unnecessary complications. If you don’t know which version you have, you just have to go into Settings> About the phone and you can check it. To later activate it, you just have to do the following:
- We enter the phone Settings.
- Now we look for the Home screen option and access.
- Here we will have the option to activate Google Discover with a simple button.
- Now we just have to go back to home and slide your finger to enter the left screen and see Google Discover.
Use Google Discover on MIUI 11, MIUI 10 and MIUI 9
To be able to use Google Discover on old Xiaomi phones we have two options that we give you to take. Depending on how we use this option, it will be more convenient to use one or the other, but in both cases they allow us to access Google news, which is what we are looking for.
An alternative launcher
One of the methods at our disposal is to install a launcher that looks more like stock Android and that Google Discover also offers us . In our search for alternatives we have not found the option in all of them, worse at least if in Rootless Launcher , in which we only have to set it as default and follow these steps:
- We pinch the main screen and tap on Settings.
- Then we grant the necessary permits.
- And finally we activate the option Show Google application.
Direct access from the search engine
In case it is an option that interests us but we do not use it quickly either, just by using the Google search bar we will be able to get Google Discover in Xiaomi. In the same way with direct access to the Google app. To achieve this we only have to do the following:
- We tweak the MIUI home screen.
- Then we touch on Widgets and look for Google.
- We select it and place it where we want.
- To Access Google Discover we will touch on the G.
