The function is integrated within the official Instagram application itself, so the only thing you will need to have the application updated to the latest version. Anyway, you may not even have access to Instagram Reels , since it seems that the application is coming to iOS first, and later ends up landing on Android. If you have clicked on TikTok, you will know perfectly what we are talking about. The new function of the social network proposes creating short videos with effects, animations and accompanying music to create very fast videos with which to entertain your followers.

How to create a Reel?

To use the new function you will have to scroll to the left to access the Stories area. Now, a new lower bar will offer you three options, Live, History and Reels, the latter being the one that interests us. It will be there when we see the snow interface with a series of options that will allow us to edit the video that we are going to create:

  • Audio: It will allow you to choose a musical track from the Instagram library, although you can also record your own audio if you prefer. It is important to emphasize that if you create an audio with a public account, your followers will be able to create reels with it.
  • AR Effects : The augmented reality effects that we already knew from the stories. They add a fun touch to your recordings in seconds.
  • Timer and countdown : An interesting function to create videos from multiple clips. So you can calculate recording times so that everything fits perfectly, in addition to being able to configure a countdown that helps you know when the recording will start.

  • Alignment: Moving the phone between takes will not be a problem with the alignment function. After recording a first video, you can see a transparency of it to re-record another shot keeping the same shot. This way you can create more fluid videos and maintain the visual aspect at all times.

How long does a reel last?

The total duration is 15 seconds , and you can create it from a single recording, several loose recordings or using videos from your personal gallery. Just press the record button and release it every time you want to create a new clip.

Who can see my reel?

Like Instagram posts, reels will be public or private depending on your Instagram account settings. If your account is public, your reels will be seen by the entire Instagram community and will appear in the Explore section. If, on the other hand, your account is private, only those users who follow you will be able to see your recordings, but they will not be able to share them or use the audio you include in them.

If you decide to send the reel by direct message or by sharing it only with your “best friends”, it will not appear in the explore section either and will disappear 24 hours after its publication.

How to see a reel?

If your Instagram application is updated and you can create reels, you can also see the new section that they have placed in the explore section (the magnifying glass icon). There you will find a large preview of a reels related to your interests. You will see the Reels icon in the lower left corner, and by clicking on the publication you will enter the full screen playback.
