Listening to the podcast can always save a user in their downtime. But at all times there is no internet connection to be able to listen to them online, so there is the possibility of downloading them to play them anywhere even though you do not have internet or do not want to consume your data rate.
Apple Podcast Downloads
Apple offers through its native application the download of the episodes you want to listen to. It should be noted that these downloads are valid for 24 hours after you play them, to avoid storing unnecessary data in the internal storage. In addition, you can always have the new episodes of those programs that you listen to most frequently downloaded automatically once they have been downloaded. This is useful so that you do not have to always download the episodes that you will always listen to when you do not have any type of internet connection. To download, you simply have to perform the following steps:
- Enter the Podcast application.
- Access the episode you need to download in your library, or simply browse to find the show in question.
- Next to the episode name you will see the cloud icon with a downward pointing arrow or ‘+’ button. Clicking on one of these icons will start the download on the iPhone.
You must bear in mind that if at any time this icon does not appear in the application, it is because the episode has probably already been downloaded by automatic download.
Podcast offline on Spotify
Although Spotify has always been associated with being a streaming music service, it also includes a section dedicated to podcasts. These can be downloaded so you can play them anywhere without having to exhaust your data rate or you are simply going to be in a site without connection to the mobile network. To carry out this download process, you simply have to follow the following steps on iPhone:
- Open the Spotify app on iPhone.
- Go to the page of the podcast in question, either by searching for it in the browser or in your library in case you follow the program.
- You will see that each of the episodes is enclosed in a rectangle.
- In the lower right corner of each of the rectangles there is a down arrow. Press it and the download will begin.
It is important to note that podcasts must be deleted manually once they have been played to prevent them from occupying an abusive space in the internal memory of the device.
Download on Google Podcast
The vast majority of major companies have wanted to exploit the boom that podcasts have had recently. A fairly clear example is Google that decided to develop an application compatible with Android and also with iOS. Something that is already mandatory for all these services is to give the possibility of downloading the episodes to listen to them in any type of condition. In this case the process is as follows:
- When you enter the application, you will see all the programs you follow on the main screen.
- The most recent episodes of each of these will be at the top of the list that is presented.
- Right at the bottom of each of the descriptions, an icon of an arrow surrounded by a circle appears. Just tap on it to start the download in the background.
Spreaker Downloads

In order to download, the following steps must be followed:
- Access the Spreaker Player application.
- Search for the podcast in question in which you are interested to download an episode.
- When you enter the tab of your favorite program you will see all the episodes that are available and right next to it, three dots vertically.
- Click on these points and in the pop-up menu select the option ‘Download’.
Overcast
Overcast is undoubtedly one of the main applications that any regular podcast listener should have installed on their iPhone. It offers a wide feed of programs as well as a player to have absolute control of the reproduction that you are doing at that moment. In order to have full access to all the podcasts, you simply have to follow the following steps:
- Access your favorite podcast show on Overcast.
- Next to the episode you want to download, click on the ‘i’.
- When accessing the episode information, in the upper right corner of the screen you will see an arrow icon circled.
- Click on it and the download will begin.
