What is the Amazon Echo whisper mode?
This is a functionality that allows Amazon smart speakers to differentiate if you speak to them in a “normal” tone of voice or , conversely, if you are speaking at a lower volume than usual . Consequently Alexa, the assistant of these speakers, will respond by whispering or at the volume that you have configured.
In this case, it is not a do not disturb mode or the night mode of Google Home that we talked about recently. How to activate whisper mode on Amazon smart speakers
Making use of this functionality is quite simple. In this case, you can activate it in several ways. The first, although it is not the most comfortable, is to access the control application of this assistant on iOS or Android:
- Open the Alexa app that you use to configure your smart speaker.
- Access the side menu of the sandwich icon and enter the configuration option.
- Go down to the preferences of Alexa and here, enter the option of voice responses.
- Here you can activate the whisper mode and, as we mentioned before, the short answer mode.
The second way you can use to activate this function and, in our opinion, the most comfortable is to ask the assistant directly . Just invoke it and say “Alexa, turn on whisper mode” or “Alexa, turn on low voice mode.” Having said this, the wizard will mention that you proceed to enable said setting at the same volume that you are at the moment, be careful .
From this moment on, if you talk to Alexa whispering your question, she will answer you in a low voice to avoid disturbing the people around you. However, if you speak in the usual tone even though this option is activated, the wizard will answer you with its usual volume.
