NFC connectivity is present in many Xiaomi terminals. Being a brand that is very focused on a young audience, being able to pay with your mobile is something fundamental, although we know that the NFC is useful for much more. However, we may run into unexpected problems that we must solve if we want to continue using the function normally.

NFC failures in our Xiaomi mobile can be derived from several factors, from external factors such as the case we have to the configuration itself. We are going to review the most common ones to try to make everything work as usual again and to continue making payments and other tasks.
Fix Xiaomi glitches with NFC
Are you sure you have NFC?
It happens on many occasions that what may seem like a problem is actually a lack of hardware. The NFC is more and more present, but there are still many Xiaomi that are launched without this option. The best way to check it is by downloading an app that will tell us for sure whether or not our mobile has NFC. We can also check the benefits of our mobile on its official website, take a look at the box or dive through the options looking for “NFC”.

Activate “HCE Wallet”
HCE is the acronym for Host Card Emulation, and it is the technology in charge of connecting our credit or debit card with the bank servers. This function is not activated by default, so we will have to proceed to activate it before trying to make any payment. For this we go to Settings / More (WiFi and Networks) / Position of the security element (NFC) / Use HCE Wallet. Then we select a default payment application from Settings / More (WiFi and Networks) / Touch and pay (NFC) / Default payment application. Now we mark the application that we are going to use by default to pay, and in this way we can make payments without problem either through Google Pay or the Wallet application of our bank

Be careful with the cases or covers
NFC is a close contact technology, which requires almost direct contact communication between our mobile and the payment terminal. That is why many cases or covers can interfere with the NFC. We must remove these items and test again to see if the problem disappears.
Disable other connections
It is possible that if both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are activated when we are making the NFC payment, they could affect the transmission of the incoming NFC message to the payment application, which makes it impossible to receive the incoming message. It is therefore recommended to turn off both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and try again.
Grant permissions
On many occasions, the security of our mobile, which acts in good faith, can interfere with the NFC connectivity working correctly for our purposes. In this case, we will have to check the permissions to make sure it is not the problem. For this we go to the security app and go to Permissions / Automatic start. Once inside, we grant permission to the payment application of our bank. Then we go to the security app and enter Permissions / Other permissions. When we are inside we will have to check that the app of our bank has NFC permission and start in the background.

Position the mobile well
In order to make payments correctly, the NFC chip of our Xiaomi must be aligned with the payment terminal . This chip is located on the back of the mobile (against the upper edge). If the sensor is unresponsive or has lost sensitivity, we need to adjust the position or slide distance of the card and try again. Keep in mind that the recommended distance is between 1 and 2 centimeters.
