We will not always be able to enjoy an Internet connection on mobile phones, either because we have gone on a trip to another country or because we are in an area where there is no Internet access, neither by mobile data nor by Wi-Fi. Or simply because the hardware to connect to the terminal’s network has broken, causing our mobile to run out of Internet.
However, today the utilities that we can take advantage of from smartphones could supply the need to always be on the network. For this reason, if you are going to be offline or use a smartphone that does not have Internet, these are some of the uses that you can do with it so that you do not have to throw it away, sell it or keep it in a box forever.
Use pre-installed apps
Phones bring all kinds of tools with them , even in many cases it will even be unnecessary to have to download any type of app that can fulfill a function that a smartphone does not have. Basically, because mobiles have become multipurpose tools. And, among the most generalized utilities, we find the following options.
Use the camera
Photography is one of the strengths of every mobile. It would be unthinkable that in order to take any photo with a smartphone camera, it would be necessary to have a mobile phone with Internet access. Therefore, it is one of the best utilities that will always be used on any mobile device . In addition, every smartphone has an app pre-installed as standard in the app drawer.
Edit pictures
This is where the software that has been integrated by itself not only Android comes into play, but also the different layers of customization of the different smartphone manufacturers. Therefore, we will have more or less options for editing images or videos from the mobile. To check it, all you have to do is enter the gallery, click on any image or video and touch the Edit option that will appear on the phone screen.
Optimize the phone
This will depend on the customization layer of your Android phone, since not all have the necessary tool to directly optimize their terminals. In the case of Apple, for example, there is no pre-installed software that fulfills this function. So we should do it ourselves by removing apps, documents, etc. However, in mobiles such as Xiaomi, OPPO, Samsung, among others, we will have a function that helps us to optimize the phone whenever we want. And, if we do not have it, we can proceed to clear the cache of the applications that we have installed, as well as their storage data from Settings> Applications and notifications> See the apps.
Monitor your exercise
Physical exercise has become vital for many users. And, luckily for us, the vast majority of smartphones bring apps like Samsung Health, Apple Health or Google Fit with which we can monitor our physical activity without having to be connected to the network. Within these pre-installed softwares we can see the steps we have gone through, configure different workouts, monitor the quality of our sleep … It will even help us to record the calories we consume daily. And all this without the Internet.
Offline games
This case is exceptional, because in order to play games offline we must have previously downloaded them from the Play Store or the app store of our phone’s operating system. But, that does not mean that we do not take them into account. More than anything, because in the software store we can find a multitude of options in which we will not need to be connected to the network from the terminal to play with them. Therefore, they will always be a good option when we do not have access to the Internet with a mobile phone.
Import files to mobile
It is not necessary for our mobile to have access to the Internet. If we have a PC with access to the network at hand , we can always download multimedia files, such as videos, movies and even music or books and then import them directly to our mobile phone.
Watch movies
If you know that you are going to be using your phone for a while without Internet and you are a fan of reading or movies and series, you can always download them and transfer them to your terminal through a USB cable. In the case of Android mobiles, we just have to connect the smartphone to the computer and choose the option Use USB to> File transfer on the mobile by clicking on Loading this device by USB. Afterwards, we will only have to drag the document to the ‘ Movies ‘ folder in the case of movies.
Listen to music
As in the previous case, we will also have a folder available to transfer the music we want to our phone. We just have to drag the sound files to the folder called ‘Music’. When the file is finished transferring, we can enjoy all the songs that we have sent to the smartphone. Later, we will find them in the Music app of the terminal. But, if you do not have your own player, we may have to look for them in the Administrator or File Manager of the smartphone.
However, to transfer music to Apple it will be different, since it will not let us transfer songs if we do not have an app in which to import the sound files, since its native music application will not let us do it. As will happen to us with movies, series or videos in general.
Other documents
Once we have connected the mobile to our PC, we will also have other options at our fingertips that will help us to continue enjoying our phone without Internet access. Among the other options that we will have available, we find ‘ Documents ‘, a folder in which we can import PDF files, books, etc. Although, we will also see the folders to store ‘Podcasts’ or ‘Audiobooks’. In this way, it will be almost impossible to get bored with a mobile without Internet, since we are lucky enough to import all the content we want.
In the case of iPhones, we can transfer books or other documents if we connect our terminal to the PC and we have the iTunes app for Windows or Finder for Mac. Once we connect it, we must go to our iPhone> On my device> Books or Audiobooks . There, we can import files as long as they are compatible with the Apple Books app.
