With more than 40 years behind them and on the occasion of the premiere of the animated film that hits theaters today , we have encouraged ourselves to see which are the franchise titles best valued by the community. 5. Super Mario Advance 4 Super Mario Bros. 3
Taking fifth place in our ranking, we have the third game of the character remastered for Nintendo’s portable console from the late 90s: Game Boy Advance. Although essentially just a port of the original game, the original was so good that it earned a Metacritic score of 94.
4. Super Mario 64
It is surely the most revolutionary Mario game ever, as it brought the franchise to 3D. In addition, a gameplay with a kind of open world never seen before until that moment (1996) was invented. Due to its mechanics and how revolutionary it was for the franchise, it takes this position and a rating of 94 on Metacritic.
3.Super Mario Odyssey
The most recent game in the saga takes the bronze medal in the ranking. Leaving the platform from left to right behind and fully entering the open world, it introduced characters that are now very dear to the fandom , such as the friendly living cap that will accompany us on our adventure around the universe. It is not surprising that on Metacritic today it has a score of 97.
2. Super Mario Galaxy 2
Mario’s second adventure through space –and for Wii– was a very worthy sequel that has nothing to envy to the original installment. With such creative planet design and gameplay and story that are some of the best the character has come up with in the 21st century. Seeing the combination of these two elements, it’s totally understandable that it has a 97 on Metacritic.
1. Super Mario Galaxy
If the second game was already one that you couldn’t miss, this one even more so. Undoubtedly Mario’s biggest surprise in his story since, at that time, getting the character out of the Mushroom Kingdom was practically an announced failure. But, as only Nintendo knows how to do, it gave us what is for many the best game in the saga ever created, which corresponds with its 97 score on Metacritic.
