When we change operators, the truth is something that, at one time or another, we have all come to do. Either because we have stopped liking the service offered by our telephone company, we have found another rate with better conditions and cheaper or another reason. However, the process by which we switch from one operator to another, which is known as portability, can give us some headaches.
More than anything, because, believe it or not, portability can fail. Yes, as you read. And, most likely, it is due to one of the reasons that we will see below. In this way, you can be calm if you are going to make a change of operator in the following days. In addition, you must be clear that there are two types: the portability of fixed numbers and the portability of mobile numbers.

Problems with mobile portability
In the event that you have tried to carry out a mobile portability of your smartphone number, but it has failed, it is time for you to know the four possible causes that could have led to the change of operator not being completed correctly :
- Headline data does not match – This is one of the most common errors. Either because we have made a mistake in giving the owner’s data or because they have been wrong from our old operator, the simple fact that the ownership data does not match, can mean that the portability is not completed. To do this, it will be necessary to confirm again the name, surnames and DNI of the owner.
- The ICC is different : In case you didn’t know, every SIM card comes with a 19-digit code called ICC , which is basically considered its identification number. Therefore, if the ICC requested by the new operator does not match the one on your card, the change cannot be made. To check this code it will be as easy as removing your SIM from the phone and looking for the number with 19 digits.

- The mobile number is not active : it is not the most common of all, but it may happen that when you port your mobile line it is not active in your original operator. Therefore, it will be essential that your smartphone number is enabled at the time of portability.
- The operator that has been indicated is not correct : another of the errors that is most often committed when changing the telephone company is that of giving the wrong mobile number . And it is that, if it goes wrong, obviously the change cannot be completed. So it will be necessary to check if we have been the ones who have given the wrong number or have made a mistake in the new operator.
You can’t change your landline number
However, if the problem has not occurred with the mobile number, but the error has been due to the portability of the landline phone , the truth is that we also find two possible reasons that have probably been to blame for that the port to the new company is not completed:
- The data of the holder is not correct
As we saw with the mobile phone, the truth is that this same problem can happen to us when carrying out the portability of the landline. Therefore, we will have to call the new operator again to give the DNI, the name and surname of the owner of the fixed line.
- The reseller is not informed
Many operators use the network of another larger telephone company . That is why this particular problem can occur. More than anything, because if we have not informed about the change, it is possible that the portability process will be rejected by your current operator. Therefore, you will have to review the information of your current company so that the new operator that you are going to hire makes a new request , this time informing the reseller .
