Decades ago we saw how the United States and the USSR had their own space race, trying to go to the Moon, manned missions to space or put satellites in orbit to obtain information that was later sent to our planet. However, at present it is private companies that have acquired the leading role in space missions. Companies like Blue Origin , by Jeff Bezos, or SpaceX , by Elon Musk, have carried out many space missions. They are even considering doing missions that consist of space tourism in the future. However, it seems that these two millionaire giants have been joined by a new one: the car brand Porsche.
Porsche wants to launch a rocket project together with Isar Aerospace , a company in which it has invested. Its objective is to try to gain access to space technologies. But if they don’t get it and fall short, they could bring some of this space technology to the automotive industry , which would be a huge advantage.
Is Porsche a real rival?
His goal is to keep up with the Bezos and Musk companies. Porsche has invested millions of dollars to get this started. In fact, a rocket project called Spectrum that can lift up to a weight of one ton is already underway and will be launched in 2022 . The goal is for it to be used to put satellites like those seen from SpaceX Earth into orbit.
At the moment it is impossible to compete with SpaceX or Blue Origin, but the company has a lot of ambition. Even if you don’t have that much budget or haven’t launched any satellites into space yet, there is still time to move forward. It is also among their plans to use reusable rockets.
Porsche has very high ambitions
One of the executives of Porsche has assured that access to the space will be very important to give innovations to other conventional industries. It is not a secret that cars are increasingly better developed thanks to the advancement of technology , so having a sector that delivers high-tech systems to space would be a key advantage over other competitors.

Even if Porsche is capable of developing its own satellite system , it could implement it in its cars and even sell it to other brands who are interested.
In conclusion, there is still time to see if this combination of Porsche with Isar Aerospace will be able to stand up to the space companies of Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos in the future or if it will only stay in the attempt. We will have to wait until next year to see what Porsche is capable of with these rockets and satellites.
