Sound problems are very common in our phones. These failures do not understand brands or models and can arise when we least expect it. OnePlus phones are also not free of these drawbacks, but luckily we have enough tools at our disposal to try to solve them.
Sound quality is something that the vast majority of manufacturers focus on. Mobile phones offer stereo speakers, advanced sound technologies such as Dolby or enough power to not need external speakers. However, when the sound begins to fail , we can find ourselves in real chaos. The most common problems derived from sound can cause that we do not hear incoming calls or that games and videos are heard low or with no quality. Let’s take a look at all these scenarios and their best solutions.
The OnePlus mobile does not emit any sound
It is one of the most serious problems, but what a simple solution can it have. If absolutely nothing is heard, that is, neither calls, incoming calls, notifications, alarms or videos, we will have to take a look at the following solutions.
Control the volume
It is one of the obvious things that give the best result and that is that in many occasions, users do not realize that the different sound sections can be at different volumes. We will have to make sure that all the volume settings are turned up to maximum to rule out other problems. We can do it from the physical volume buttons or Settings / Sound.
Bluetooth connected
When we have been connected to the car handsfree or to a sound accessory such as a speaker, it is possible that if we have not disconnected the Bluetooth, the mobile phone continues to detect the pairing and it is not because our OnePlus does not emit any sound . The solution is as easy as checking Bluetooth connectivity and disconnecting it in chaos that it is still active.
Do not disturb mode
Also, the physical button may be in the correct position, but the Do Not Disturb Mode may be activated in the sound settings. We must verify it from the Settings / Sounds menu or from the quick access menu of the taskbar, sliding from the top of the screen down.

The solution to this sound problem is to remove the casing of the mobile and test if the mobile rings again correctly.
Beware of malware
If we have given sound related permissions to a malicious app, it is very likely the cause of our sound problems . They are usually loaded at system startup and run in the background, making it difficult to find the cause. In this case we will have to take a look at the latest installed apps entering with the famous Safe Mode, in order to intercept the possible causing software. Once inside, and if the phone rings correctly, there will be no doubt that it is an app. In that case we must delete each of the recently installed until the problem disappears.
Enter Safe Mode
- Press the phone off button for a while
- Wait for shutdown and restart options to appear
- Hold down the power button for a while until an on-screen pop-up appears
- Press accept to restart the phone in safe mode
Poor sound on OnePlus
It is perhaps one of the most annoying options, since the mobile sounds and is heard with enough power, but the quality is far from being desired . If this happens, OnePlus itself has tools to correct the error, although we also have more varied ones.
Activate Dolby Atmos
Luckily, OnePlus is one of those companies that have reached an agreement with Dolby to integrate better quality sound into their phones. However, it is an option that we must touch manually to adapt it to our liking, until the phone sounds with quality . To do this, we go to Settings and then click on Sound / Dolby Atmos.
Within this menu we will find three different functions to achieve a higher quality sound . The point is to test each one until the sound has the desired quality
- Dynamic: Automatically adapts the sound according to the application we are using, with the intention that the sound is more optimal in each case.
- Movie: Ideal for streaming content on platforms such as Netflix or Amazon, and offer enhanced sound with the voices and music of movies or series.
- Music: It is the best option to adapt the quality to the music. Boost sounds and regulate intensity as needed, thereby reducing distortion.
An app to improve quality
If the Dolby Atmos functions are not enough to achieve quality sound, we can try a third-party app to improve the audio quality. There are a lot of equalizers that are compatible with our OnePlus. Below you can access one of the best for free, which can be downloaded directly from Google Play. Ditch with options for surround sound and more than 10 predefined equalizers, in addition to the option to modify the sound to our liking.
Is it during a call?
If the sound is of poor quality when we receive or make a call, we may have a problem with the internal speaker of the mobile. However, far from being a hardware problem, in many cases the problem is in how we make the call or where we are. To improve its quality we can try these solutions:
- Check the location : check the network signal or if we are in an area of poor coverage, which could be the cause of the problems. Go to the Network / settings and change the network type to GSM or 3G to try to improve the stability of the network.
- Adjusting the volume and mode : Another solution is to adjust the volume with the volume buttons during phone calls, since the multimedia sound or the alarms are not the same as when we are in the middle of a call.
- Restart and update: first we will have to hold down the volume button to restart the mobile to see if by turning it on again the problem has been solved. The next step is to check if we have any pending update that could have solved known bugs with the sound of our OnePlus. To do this we go to Settings / System Updates.
No hearing or poor hearing with headphones
It is an assumption in which everything goes well with the speaker, the power and the quality, but we found failures when connecting the headphones, either Bluetooth or via wired connection. In this case, we should also try some solutions to try to banish these bugs.
Change headphones
Just like we change the cable, charger or plug when we have charging problems, the first step is to try other headphones . In case the sound is heard well, we already know that it is caused by the accessory and not by the mobile.
