No iPhone (iPhone 12, iPhone 11, XR or SE) Are Sold with Charger

As one of the many memes that emerged after the presentation of the iPhone 12 would say, Apple increasingly includes fewer things with its mobiles. First say remove the headphone jack, then the Touch Id, now the headphones and the charger … But worst of all is that this decision does not concern only the new iPhone 12, but all the phones in the firm’s catalog.

Yesterday, Apple introduced its first iPhones without a power adapter or headphones in the box. The new iPhone 12 models ship with a USB-C to Lightning cable and… nothing else. But that’s not all since when taking a look at the different models that are still present in the firm’s catalog, we have realized that the situation is repeated with all the phones on sale. That is, although until now the iPhone XR, iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2020) were sold with a charger, they will no longer do so.

No iPhone (iPhone 12, iPhone 11, XR or SE) Are Sold with Charger

As you can see in the image that we can find in the purchase link of any of these phones, they will only come with a USB-C to Lightning cable and no power adapter or EarPods in the box.

According to Lisa Jackson, supervisor of Apple’s environmental, social and policy initiatives, taking these products out of the boxes will make the packages smaller and ultimately benefit the environment. The cost savings does not seem to go with the brand.

In return, apple lowers prices

To partially compensate for the change, Apple has lowered the price of its EarPods to 19 euros each. Similarly, the price of the new 20W power adapter stays at 25 euros. In addition, both the iPhone 11 (689 euros) and the iPhone XR (589 euros) are also updated with discounts after the announcement of the 12 series. Not that they are brutal discounts but at least they compensate for the loss of the charger.

cargador iPhone

The launch of the new iPhone, along with other company announcements, was a Trending Topic last night, as is often the case after every company event. Sadly, most of the conversations revolved around poor phone innovation and the iPhone 12 series’ resemblance to the iPhone 5, and of course the decision to stop selling chargers with phones.

After Apple phones were unveiled there were a lot of memes and jokes about it. There was even a time when more tweets were posted with the hashtag # iPhone5 than with # iPhone12 .
