This is the “earthquake alert” feature , which is available in China and limited to Sichuan Province, a province with a centuries-long history of frequent earthquakes. Now, this feature is starting to appear on Huawei devices with EMUI 11, according to users who have already received the stable version of the new layer.
This new feature appears in stable versions of EMUI 11, and can be found under Settings / Security / Warning notifications / Earthquake alert. In addition, this feature is accompanied by another related feature called “Video Alert” that allows users in distress to make a video call directly with the police . When activated, the user will be able to receive an early warning on their mobile, so that they can be safe in the event of a major earthquake.
Copy or union of forces?
What in principle may turn out to be a copy of a similar function, could actually be revealed as a union of forces so that technology can help with different natural catastrophes. Recall that Google itself has actively worked on real-time warning tools for forest fires.
