New Design Windows 10: Changes in Interface and File Explorer

Microsoft is working to introduce new changes to the Windows 10 interface , including changes to the Start Menu and File Explorer . Of the latter we had not seen anything of the new design, but now Microsoft itself has “inadvertently” filtered its new appearance.

It has been Panos Panay himself, Microsoft’s product director, who has shown the appearance in a new video published on his Instagram account celebrating that Windows 10 is already present in 1,000 million devices , including desktops, laptops, tablets , Xbox and HoloLens.

Windows 10 interface is going to receive big changes

In this video they make a quick review of the company’s operating systems on PC until they reach Windows 10, where they start showing the renewed icons that are already being updated in the current version of Windows 10, and the new changes that come with Windows 10 2004 to the start menu, with a more modern and simple design.

This start menu will be flatter and more Fluent Design-compliant , with dynamic icons and larger boxes with more information. In addition, the background color will adjust to the system and the wallpaper that we have set, with a slight touch of transparency that we did not have before. We also see how we can customize the mouse cursor in size and color.

However, there is a moment of the video (0:39) which, although somewhat pixelated, we can see perfectly the new file browser, which has been renamed to Files (Files). Until now, no image of it has appeared, so it is likely that we will not see it in Windows 10 2004 , but in the second update at the end of the year or already facing the first one next year.

In the image we can see direct access to folders in the cloud and to recent folders, as well as much more modern icons and a more careful and simple interface. Hopefully they have improved the search, and have added highly demanded functions such as showing the size of folders directly without having to right-click to see it in properties. Meanwhile, we can always customize File Explorer.

The design we find is finally integrated into the new philosophy of Windows 10, and it is very different from the one we currently use and that has not received major changes in terms of basic functionality and interface since it was introduced decades ago in Windows 95. Each version The operating system has been making small adaptations at the design level, and the current version is practically identical to the one found in Windows 7 except for the dark theme or the relocation of some adjustments.

Along with the file explorer we can also see new designs in Calendar, Photos and Calculator , with more rounded corners and much more subtle color gradients. It also seems that new options will come to resize windows.
