OPPO has taken advantage of the celebration of its INNO Day to continue showing that it is at the forefront of technological innovation. After managing to place the OPPO Find X2 Pro as one of the best smartphones of 2020, now the firm shows what will be the first rolling smartphone on the market .
Under the motto ” Leap into the Future “, the brand has been in charge of showing the latest ideas and advances in what the firm calls IoX (Internet of Experience). In this event the brand has shown new conceptual products such as OPPO AR 2021 glasses equipped with sensorToF, voice and gesture recognition and the virtualization of a 90-inch screen in front of the eyes.
But what has really caught all eyes is its OPPO X 2021, the world’s first mobile with a rolling screen.

This is a smartphone with a rolling screen that hides within the body itself without altering the proportions or the format of the smartphone, giving the feeling of being a “classic” smartphone when viewed from any angle. The surprise comes when you stretch it from one of its edges, because it is here when the OLED screen is expanded a few centimeters and amazes us from a 6.7-inch display to a 7.4-inch panel.

In this way we can use the OPPO phone “closed” and use it with one hand, to surf the Net, make calls, take photos, etc … and deploy it to enjoy multimedia content or enjoy a much better gaming experience.
To develop this phone, we have worked with about 130 patents, both on the mobile screen itself and on the brand’s patented “Roll Motor”, which allows you to shrink or enlarge the OPPO X 2021 screen on demand.
This “motor” is a system composed of two motors that generate a constant force to deploy the device evenly, ensuring that the screen is not damaged during the process. It even gives the user the freedom to unroll the screen as many times as they want, unlike folding smartphones which generally have only two states (folded and unfolded). OPPO engineers have designed a bearing with a slider on the side of the screen with a 6.8mm arc that allows the screen to roll back without visible creases.
Since the roll-up mobile screen is not as rigid as conventional panels, OPPO has also designed an innovative 2-in-1 plate screen support technology that supports the screen on both sides from the inside. When the device is closed, the plates form a single surface to support the screen. And when it is extended, one of the plates slides out to support the screen without leaving gaps.
Unfortunately, it seems that we will still have to wait a long time to see the device because at the moment this concept must be developed in depth, which is why we do not know more characteristics of it, such as the data of its cameras, processor or battery.
