Password lock notes on iPhone
Regardless of whether you create a new note or open an existing one, the content of these being also indifferent, you can add a padlock with which to block them so that no one outside of you can access it without permission. To do this, you must follow these steps:
- Open the note you want to block.
- Click on the three points located in the upper right.
- Now click on “Block”.
- Enter the password you want. If you have previously created a password, you must enter it, as it will be the same for all notes.
- If you want to be able to unlock the note with Touch ID or Face ID, click on “Allow” in the pop-up window that appears.
The note will be locked from that moment and every time you exit it and want to re-enter you must type the password or place your face or finger correctly to unlock it using the respective biometric sensor on your iPhone. It should be noted that even being inside the note, without having to exit, you can lock it by pressing the padlock icon at the top.
Something important to know is that you will not be able to add passwords to shared notes .
Does the password also appear on other devices?
If you have other devices such as iPad, iPod touch, Mac and even another iPhone, you will be able to see your notes synced with iCloud as long as you have logged into them with the same Apple ID. Therefore, if you put a password on a note, you will find it blocked on those devices, although you can unlock them by entering the respective password. This is therefore a safe protection method, since it would be absurd for it to lock only on the iPhone and the note to be visible from other devices without any protection.
Another way to add passwords
There is another way to set a password to the notes on our iPhone. This is done from Settings> Notes , going to “Password” and entering the respective unlock password. It should be noted that also in this section it is possible to change the password if you want to set another, since it will be changed in the application as well.
Remove password from a note
If you locked a note by mistake or for any reason you need to remove the lock, you can remove the lock in a really easy way. You just have to open the note in question and once it is unlocked, click on the three dots in the upper right and click on ” Unlock “.
If you forgot the password for the notes
In this matter Apple makes it clear that it will not be able to help you reset the password unless you restore the device and configure it again, at which point you can create a new one without recovering the notes previously made. If you activated Touch ID or Face ID at the time, you will be lucky that that will be enough to remove the password and create a new one.
