Allowing the user to post ephemeral content is nothing new. Since they started Snapchat with that idea, this content has become more and more popular. So much so that the social platform that includes them is rare today.
For this reason, after seeing how stories jumped from Snapchat to Instagram to end up flooding other platforms such as Facebook, Telegram, WhatsApp, Pinterest and many more, now it was Twitter’s turn. So here comes the Fleets.
The new Twitter Fleets are, in short, stories that are automatically deleted 24 hours after their publication. What advantages can this bring on a platform like the blue bird? Well, a priori the same as in any other network and according to those responsible for an improvement in the conversation. Especially for users who are just starting to publish on the platform.
And it is that after a few months of tests in other markets, Twitter says that it has seen an increase in conversations between users by having this idea that nothing they were going to say was going to be fixed. And yes, it is true that there are tools that allow us to eliminate in an automated way everything that we publish on our Twitter timeline, but this is something else and as such it also offers other options.

How the Twitter Fleets work has very little mystery. Beyond that they only last 24 hours, compared to the stories of other platforms there are hardly any differences. And if there are, they are at the level of creativity.
So, how to post your first Fleet on Twitter . The first thing you have to have is to activate the option. The deployment has already started, although it may take a few days to see it. Once it’s done, this would be the process to follow:
- Select the tweet from your timeline that you want and tap on the share button
- A menu will open where you will see the option to share Fleet
- Once you select this, you will see that an interface similar to that of the stories of any other application appears. There you can add different elements
- When you have it all, hit Fleet and you’re done.

As you can see there is nothing strange and with these Fleets you can publish only text, react to a tweet, publish a photo or video that you have on your reel or record at the moment and even add a background. With the passage of time, new options may arrive, but for now it is what it is.
How to see my fleets and those of other users
Lastly, where do the Fleets appear? Well, there are several options. The first is by scrolling your own timeline from the top down. There will appear the users who you follow and who have published a Fleet during the last hours.
The second is by directly accessing your profile. Which means that also in your case, anyone who has a public profile on Twitter will allow other users to see the possible Fleets that they have published.
For the rest, nothing really new to tell or highlight. It is still a functionality to which many improvements can be applied such as the mention of other users, more options at the level of customization, etc.
