It is a reality that the vast majority of manufacturers have not launched a folding mobile on the market. A handful of brave men such as Samsung, Huawei, Motorola or the more unknown Royole, have been the first to take the step. However, we know that other giants like OPPO are behind this idea. Now and precisely from the hand of this Chinese company, we have been able to see the design of one of the strangest possible folding mobiles.
There is great uncertainty with manufacturers who have not yet released a folding smartphone. We have Xiaomi, LG or OPPO itself, who have been flirting with this technology for a long time, but without actually materializing in a commercial smartphone. Until now, the different patents presented by OPPO in this sense, showed concepts that were familiar to us, but the latest idea of the company is out of the established until now.

Folding block mobile
OPPO’s new patent has been approved this November at the Japan Patent Office. In it, we can see a terminal with a hidden camera under the screen with four different designs , but all have in common a unique block structure.
Design 1
One of the designs shows a six-block, two-hinge design. The terminal folds inward and features a dual camera setup with an LED flash located on the lower front. Thanks to its two hinges, the terminal can be completely folded in half.
Design 2
The second design also has two hinges and six blocks, but it changes to show a triple camera with an LED flash . This model folds both in and out. This design is designed for a more complete fold and to be more comfortable to carry in your pocket.
Design 3
The third design is totally different, having a total of eight blocks, but maintaining the two hinges. In this model there are no cameras, so they could be hidden under the screen. Both hinges fold out.
Design 4
The latest design is similar to the previous one, meaning it has eight blocks and two hinges, but it folds inward and also features a triple camera setup, with an LED flash.
Will they go on sale?
It is difficult to predict whether these bets will come true or not. At the moment, folding mobile bets have been launched in two styles: turning a mobile into a tablet, and compacting the standard size of a mobile. If in itself, launching a folding mobile is a risky bet in a market and such turbulent times, it is even more so with a terminal like the one we have just seen. However, in this industry there is nothing written and OPPO could surprise us.
