Internet has become a constant in our lives. Wherever we go, we will at some point feel the need to connect and check our social networks, email or any other possible action. In order not to exhaust mobile data, we may even ask our guests for the WiFi password. Are there alternatives to not giving it?
If your guests want to scrounge your Internet, the best thing you can do is create a guest network so that they can be connected quickly and safely for you if you are a Movistar customer. With a WiFi network for guests you can be hospitable without sacrificing security.

Guest mode of the Movistar router
When someone comes to your house and needs to access the Internet occasionally, the most comfortable thing for them and for you is going to be to create a guest network. In this way, you won’t have to provide the WiFi password, either because you don’t want to or because you have such a combination of letters, numbers and symbols that you barely remember it enough to recite it by heart.
The guest mode can be activated and deactivated only for when you have visitors at home, so you can activate and deactivate it occasionally and with a weaker and more comfortable password to share, being able to even wink at these guests with a word that mean something to hosts and to them.
Of course, you will need the Smart WiFi Router or HGU for this, since it is the one that can be configured directly through the free Smart WiFi app to manage the wireless connection. This guest connection is independent of your simultaneous WiFi connections: WiFi (2.4 GHz) and WiFi Plus (5 GHz), long range and shorter range but faster, respectively.
How to create your guest network step by step
Unlike other more complex Movistar router configuration tasks, which may even require fiddling with the Alejandra Portal, you only have to install the Smart WiFi application , available for iOS and Android.
Within the app, we go to My Network, My WiFi. There you will see the names and password of your current WiFi networks. At the bottom, you will see Guest WiFi Network . Click on the corresponding button to activate it. Before finishing the network configuration we can assign the SSID (Service Set Identifier) that we want and an alternative password. This way, only those who know the password will be able to access your guest connection.
One of the advantages offered by this guest network is that it even allows ways to share the password via WhatsApp by sending a link to a contact or group or by QR code from Movistar Home, in the Movistar UHD decoder or in the Alejandra Portal.

Once the configuration of this additional network is saved, we can easily activate or deactivate it by means of a switch in the app, which will serve to give access in easy steps and without the need to modify your usual networks , to avoid any type of configuration failure. or that your password ends up in the wrong hands.
