The camera app is one of the ones we use the most on our phones, also on Sony‘s Xperia. There are few things that make us feel worse than checking that the camera app does not open at the least opportune moment, when we want to take precisely a quick photo of a specific scene. Here’s what you can try to bring the camera app “back to life”.

It is not common but it can happen, try to open the camera of our Xperia mobile and receive an error message equal to or similar to “Camera not available”. Personally, it is something that has happened to me in one of these Xperia phones, and fortunately it has not grown older, as long as we know what to do next.
What to do when this happens
This is an error that Sony knows perfectly, in fact it is usually explained to users as something that can happen, specifically in Android 10, but many of us have suffered this failure also with Android 9 and other versions.

It is quite unpleasant to find a perfect scene to photograph and realize at the moment of pressing the camera icon that it does not open due to an alleged error . Well, the solutions are rather common sense, in fact there is no miracle solution to this problem. But we can do different things so that the camera app works correctly again.
Force the camera to close
When this happens it is probably due to an unexpected glitch in the phone’s camera app. In those cases, the best we can do is close the app completely , forcing this closure. For this we must do the following:
- Enter the settings of your Xperia
- Click on “Applications and notifications”
- Go to “See all applications”
- Select the camera app
- Click on “Force stop”

Once we do this, the app closes completely, and therefore when we press its icon again to open it, it will have to be fully loaded , you will probably no longer see any problem.
Clear the camera cache
In the same place we can do this other alternative, from this menu you can easily delete the cache of the camera app. This data may also be corrupting its operation, so when clearing the cache we will obtain a result similar to that of the arrest.
- Enter the settings of your Xperia
- Click on “Applications and notifications”
- Go to “See all applications”
- Select the camera app
- Go to “Storage”
- Click on “Clear cache”

Other alternatives
With what we have seen before, it should work, but if not, you can resort to quite obvious and common processes, such as restarting the phone so that all processes are also closed. Another alternative is to check if there is an update available for the camera app. Or in the most extreme cases, restore the phone , but we doubt that you have to go to that extreme, because probably everything that we have described above allows you to solve the problem.
