Its goal is to automatically find the latest versions of these programs. Unlike automatic updates, SUMo informs us of the availability of updates before we need to use our software.
It is worth mentioning that what this program does is a simple search on the Internet to locate the latest version of each software that we have installed. Of the programs found that require an update, it allows us to choose whether we want to obtain them through their official pages or from SUMo’s own servers.
An important added value that this application has is that it catalogs minor or major update updates depending on how critical it is. All this by means of a simple icon, so that we can know if we should update the application urgently or not. In addition, it allows us to choose which program we want to check for its latest version, as well as export the results obtained, both in a text file and in a spreadsheet.
SUMo scans and locates recent updates
Once we run the program, the first thing that appears is a wizard that we can use to start working with SUMo. The first option it offers us is to automatically check the software we have installed. In this way, the application is in charge of monitoring our system in search of all the software that we have installed.
Once we enter its main menu we see how all the programs that SUMo has detected appear and that they appear to us in alphabetical order in the “Product” tab. The next column shows us the company and the current version. Finally, in the “Update” tab, it shows us if there is an update available for each of the detected applications.

So that we can know if the available updates are important or minor, the program guides us through icons that appear just to the left of each product. At the top it informs us of the legend that corresponds to each icon. In this way we can know if it is updated to the latest version or if a minor or important update is available.
SUMo also allows us to ignore any program from which we do not want to receive notification of updates through the upper button. By clicking on “Ignore”, we will be telling SUMo not to check for updates on these programs because we prefer to do it manually or for whatever reason. In the event that we directly want to remove a program from the list, click on “Remove”, and if we want to add a program manually that does not appear in the list, click on “Add”.
From the “Get update” button we can download the update corresponding to the selected program, although it is necessary to emphasize that this can only be done with the PRO version that is paid. Therefore, if we have the free version, it will direct us to the SUMo website to proceed with your purchase. If we right-click on any product, a contextual menu appears where it offers us the option to update from the SUMo website or from the developer’s website, in both cases it will be necessary to purchase the PRO version.

In the “Tools” tab at the top, it offers us the possibility of exporting the results both as a spreadsheet and as a text file. In addition, it allows us to edit the ignored product lists, as well as edit the omitted update lists.
From the “Options” tab we can enter its “Settings” panel. Here, in addition to choosing the language (by default it already includes Spanish), it allows us to configure from where we want to obtain the updates, either from the SUMo server or from the developer’s official website. It also has other options such as allowing Beta versions or allowing Microsoft products, something that the program itself does not recommend, since it is already included with the operating system itself.
