The fact is that since March 15, 2022, GTA V is already officially available for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and no longer as a PS4 and Xbox One release capable of running on the new hardware thanks to backward compatibility. Now, the millions of users who have the game all over the world, what they will be wondering is how to transfer all their achievements from one version to another without losing anything they have achieved in recent years.
To maintain our progress within GTA V (not in the online part), we will have to use the tools that Rockstar’s famous Social Club puts in our hands, which, as in the case of other publishers such as Ubisoft, offer us the possibility of uploading our savegames to the cloud of our account. To do this we have to go to the options menu (in the PS4/Xbox One game), choose «Game» and finally select the last of the options that we will see at the bottom, which is «Upload saved game». That will allow us to download it later on a PS5 and even on an Xbox Series X | S from a PS4 or Xbox One.
Of course, in this case of the GTA V story mode progress games , you must bear in mind that you cannot have more than one stored per platform (PlayStation, Xbox, etc.) and, very importantly, you will have it available to transfer it to another machine for a maximum of 90 days. That is, three months.
And what about online progress?
If the campaign mode game needs to go through the Rockstar cloud, in the case of GTA Online you should not worry because the migration will be practically the same as when you went from PS3 to PS4 or from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, since everything is carried out carried out thanks to a process within the game servers. After all, when you access the multiplayer of GTA V you are not loading a state stored on your console, but a profile that is updated second by second within the online infrastructure created by the company.
This account migration process to access everything you have achieved in recent years will be available from March 15 , when the new next-gen version goes on sale , so you will have from the minute one that enters the game everything you store in your profile. That according to Rockstar are the characters, the progress and level reached, the statistics, the properties and weapons, clothes, content created by the user himself and, obviously, we do not forget the vehicles that you have been able to pile up in the garages.
So in this last case in which you are more of a GTA Online user than a GTA V story mode user, you should not fear anything. Moreover, you can surely continue to alternate games on PS4 with PS5 without problems within multiplayer depending on the place and the machine from which you connect.
