Several weeks ago, Apple officially released iOS 14.2 for iPhone 6s and later, that is, all the iPhone that were already compatible with the first version of iOS 14. However, in the last few hours, it launched another version of iOS 14.2 for those iPhone 12 that had not updated to this software version. While it’s not the first time something like this has happened, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen a similar launch from Apple. What is the reason this happened?
A revised and not universal iOS 14.2
Despite how optimized the software of an iPhone is on any compatible device, the truth is that the iPhone 12 are the phones that a priori should have better performance with iOS 14.2. However, the fact that they are also new devices can make it easier for a compatibility problem or something similar to appear. While it is true that some bugs had been reported, especially on the screen, it does not seem that this revised version of iOS 14.2 will correct these problems.

It is also curious that this version of iOS 14.2 is not universal even for all iPhone 12, since it was only released for those who kept their device on a version equal to or earlier than iOS 14.1. As identified in MacRumors , the previous version had 18B92 as a build number, while this one has 18B111. Neither on the Apple website nor in the notes for said update is there any reference to a specific bug that has been improved. As we said before, some bugs were registered in the screens that apparently would be resolved already in 14.3. In case it was resolved in this version, it would be logical for the update to be released for all iPhone 12 regardless of whether or not they had already updated to 14.2.
Fixed an issue with the M1 as well

Although it has nothing to do with the iPhone or iOS, it should be noted that in the last hours Apple solved a problem with the new Macs with an M1 chip. They were experiencing a problem restoring the device that prevented them from completing the process. An error window appeared and as reported in different help threads, only with Apple Configurator 2 was it possible to finish the restoration. Without having to launch any update, the Californian company solved this problem and it seems that all those who have one of the new computers with Apple Silicon will be able to format their computers without any failure appearing.
