MacBook with Backlit Apple, Are They Back This 2020?

We are just less than a week away from the last Apple event of this 2020 , in which it is an open secret that they will present their first Mac with their own chips . These processors based on ARM architecture, called Apple Silicon at least provisionally, will represent a historic change in the company. We will have to see performance tests and compare with those of Intel, but aesthetically we could find back one of the most iconic designs in the history of the company’s computers.

Hello Apple Silicon, hello again illuminated apple?

Surely you will be sick of seeing Apple laptops with its classic logo on the back, which looks like a light bulb. This apple achieves that lighting based on what the device’s own screen has. However, in 2016 the Californian company decided to leave this iconic design behind to leave the logo as a silkscreen with reflections like a mirror. It is likely that this design change responded to a way of being able to decrease the thickness of the equipment, but we are sure that many consumers would not mind if this thickness were increased again if it is for this purpose.

MacBook with Backlit Apple

Next Tuesday, at least two new MacBooks could be presented, one of them 12 inches, taking up the product line that Apple discontinued a few years ago and another a model from the ‘Pro’ range. An ‘Air’ model is also expected, although it is not so clear that it will be this year when it is launched. There is no official information or clear indications that these are going to bring the illuminated apple back, but who knows if the animation that Apple has created for the event may be a nod to this return.

As you can see, the animation in augmented reality shows a lying apple that rises in the same way as the lid of a MacBook. This is a clear nod that what we will see will be portable. However, we also find a luminous detail in it, since it reflects colored lights that could be a reference to the screen of these. The apple as such is not illuminated but black, but who knows if it will have any relation to the fact that it ends up being backlit.

An event full of nods to the past

Apple’s event on November 10 is already recorded, probably on similar dates to the previous two. However, it is not yet possible to know how it will be, but already from the invitation there are nods to the history of the brand. The chosen slogan, “One more thing”, is a reference to the famous phrase introduced by Steve Jobs to surprise the public with presentations of teams that nobody expects, although over time it has been degraded because of the leaks. However, it is a phrase that has marked a lot. In fact, this article that you are reading falls into precisely a category that we have called that.

One more thing

The last time the company used this phrase was in 2017 to introduce the iPhone X, while the first was curiously to introduce the first MacBook Pro in history. This event will be in itself a gigantic “One more thing”, from which we will see if there is any surprise like other rumored products such as a renewed Apple TV, the AirPods Studio or the AirTags. In any case, it is clear that the Macs will be the protagonists and, hopefully, so will the Manzanita.
