The A14 chip will go into production in spring

As DigiTimes has learned, TSMC has been chosen again as a manufacturer that will carry out the production of the A14 chip as we are used to and its production will begin midway through the second quarter , that is, between April and June. As we have said, this new chip is expected to be compatible with the 5G mmWave connectivity that will arrive in the new iPhone of 2020. To achieve this, at least three AiP modules must be integrated.
Another of the big changes that will be seen in these processors will be in size. So far we have seen how the A12 and A13 chip were 7 nanometers, and since TSMC they have worked hard to reduce the size even more, fulfilling all the rumors of these last months. According to the most recent information, the A14 chip will have an architecture of 5 nanometers, granting TSMC the exclusivity of production of these A-series chips. In order to achieve this architecture they have had to make a significant investment of 25 billion dollars.
For this year Apple is expected to launch 5 new iPhone models including a new iPhone SE 2 although it is not known whether it will have the latest chip on the market or will have a previous one to reduce costs . The rumors are uncertain although we are pleased to see that finally the production of this processor begins that, in addition to the features mentioned above, will also improve overall performance and also reduce energy consumption . The augmented reality field will also be greatly enhanced for this new iPhone model since Apple wants to bet on this technology and this should also be reflected in the processor.
