Phones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 also boast this cutting-edge design.
Camera cropping is one of those screen design elements that has been widely adopted among phone manufacturers in the past year. A viable alternative that, in addition to allowing a greater relationship between body and screen, can be used as a battery indicator in some phones using a third-party application called Energy Ring.
Until now we have seen it work on some Samsung and Huawei mobiles but now its compatibility extends to other mid-range mobiles among which, above all, the Redmi Note 9 and the Redmi Note 9 Pro stand out.
Altering the screen of the Redmi Note 9
This ingenious tool allows the outline of the screen hole to become a battery indicator that, when the circle is completely closed, alerts of a full charge and, as the circumference decreases, indicates that the power of the device is is wearing out.
To use it, you simply have to download the Energy Ring application from the following link and install it normally on your Xiaomi device:
Energy Ring , to function properly, requires access to accessibility services, in order to be displayed on the Lock Screen. The app does not read or control any data, and only requires this particular permission with which to ensure proper operation. However, sometimes the Redmi Note 9’s drum animation may not play correctly. To do this, try the following solutions:
- Settings> Accessibility> Visibility improvements> Remove animations> disable
- Settings> Applications> Manage applications> Energy Ring> Activate automatic start

Not only redmi Note 9 can use its on-screen hole as a battery indicator. The app is now compatible with the Galaxy Note 10 Lite as well, although a different version of the app must be used. Other mobiles that can also use the Energy Ring app now are the Realme 6 Pro and the Huawei P40 Pro, following the Realme 6 and Huawei P40 Lite.
