Telegram 6.0: Group Chats in Folders, New Emojis and Stickers

Telegram today released its version 6.0 , one of its biggest updates ever, with a large number of new features that improve what is already an almost perfect messaging application. Among them we find the possibility of grouping chats, or the inclusion of new animated emojis.

Telegram is doing what it can in recent weeks due to increased usage. Those of you who use the app frequently will have noticed that it works somewhat slower, where messages take a while to load, images take a long time to send, and sending a video is a titanic task.

All this has not slowed them down when launching version 6.0 of the messaging application. Months have passed since the inclusion of great news in the app, and now they have introduced many of them at once in this new version.

Telegram

Chat Folders

The first big news is Chat Folders , or Conversation Folders. With it, if we have many chats, we can group them depending on the type of origin they have. For example, we can group in a same folder all the chats of the job, the groups of bargains, etc. We just have to create a folder, and add the chats of each one. At the top of the chat the folders we have created will appear, being able to see if we have new messages from work, personal, etc.

Thanks to this, we can also use Telegram for work these days of confinement. The function activates itself if we have many open chats, but you can activate it manually by going to tg: // settings / folders

This feature supports archived chats, which are in the archived category and only exit if a new message arrives. Silenced chats stay there forever in those groups that can get very heavy. We can also hide that folder if we want to.

Another option we have now is to be able to anchor as many chats as we want instead of having a limit. Thanks to this, they will always appear in the same place.

Greater synchronization with desktop app

Folders will also be synchronized between multiple devices in the same way that all chats and channels are synchronized between new devices (except for secret ones). Now in the desktop app a sidebar has been added that shows us all the folders that we have created, in addition to some icons to be able to customize them to our liking.

Channel Statistics

If you have a channel of more than 1,000 subscribers, now you will have user growth statistics, in addition to the performance of each publication. Thanks to this, you will be able to know better what content works.

New animations in video recordings

The short video recordings now have new animations to give us more information about the recordings that we are making.

New animated emojis and coronavirus sticker pack

We also have big changes to the Emoji. Everyone related to health or coronavirus is now encouraged, including soap, virus, ambulance, or taking temperature.

Also, if you now put the Virus Emoji (🦠), we will get all the official stickers from many of the virus-related packs. We have the official coronavirus pack at this link .

Another animated sticker that has received changes is the one of the dice, which will show a random number every time we send it. Thanks to this, we can undo fights.

As we see, Telegram has included many new features that WhatsApp does not have. We will see if we see a new chapter in the battle of WhatsApp vs Telegram where they copy the function of chat folders.
